He is very good at being patient waiting for downfield play to develop.
He looked to the right the whole play trying to keep the safety in the middle.

The QB did a great job of looking the safety off, but in that coverage the safety on that side was responsible for that half of the field. Regardless of where the QB was looking, he should have been there in coverage. I don't think any receiver was in the middle of the field. Basically blown coverage!

he wasn't lost.. he watched tua's eyes/head stare down the right side of the field the whole time, and at the last second, qb lasers it down the left side..
blown coverage?.. not so much.. excellent play by qb? very much so..

By defensive formation it appears he's responsible for the right side. He got played by doing what he wasn't supposed to do and trying to be where he thought the play was going to be rather than where he was supposed to be.
It was a great play by the QB to take advantage of that, but the safety has no business trying to read that play to his left, especially in the 2nd and LOOOONG situation where job #1 is to not let a receiver get behind you.

What? The safety was lost. No reason to read QB. All other DB's done there job. He is responsible for deep half. Hash to sideline. That's blown coverage.

Where the QB is looking has no bearing on responsibility. If it was. cover 2 as reported:
Who Plays What in a Cover 2 Zone? Here's a breakdown of the assignments of the safeties, corners, and linebackers on a pass read.
Safeties The strong safety and free safety are assigned to the two deep zones of the field. They need to be deeper than the deepest receiver and wider than the widest receiver. The Cover 2 zone frees them up to worry less about the run, but they have a lot more ground to cover, and they will face a unique challenge when their assigned zone has two or more receivers.
Corners Corners typically will play the flats in a Cover 2 zone. They will align close to their outside receiver, and try to jam him up at the line of scrimmage. Once they make contact, they will get their eyes towards the inside to look for any pass threats coming to the flat.
Corner let him run right by him, safety was a dear in the headlights until too late. He not only wasn't in his zone he was not looking for what receiver was in his zone (only one). No up front pressure and its a touchdown. Great execution on the offense, YGBSM by the defense.

Did you not see Tua look off the Safety down the right side like he was friggin Aarron Rodgers before he threw that bullet? That was like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Drew Brees stuff there.
That kid is a baller.

The CB also did a very poor job on his assignment . He was slow turning and basically allowed the qb to play pitch and catch with a wide open reciever .

Yeah, in cover 2, CB is supposed to get a good jam on the WR. He failed, as well.
