What was Venables chewing Boulware for Friday night?

Oct 8, 2016, 10:48 PM

After the targeting call was overturned Venables had Boulware on the sideline chewing him out. My interpretation of the body language was:
B: Hey, the call was overturned
V: I don't care what they said, you misplayed the play.

Simply because it wasn't a sound tackle. It worked out for him but he should have wrapped him up***

He was off assignment, thought he did make a good play he was off position and shouldn't have been further in space!!!! Basically keep to your assignment

A high tackle and afterwards talking to the ref.***

There's something in these hills.

If I had to guess it was probably talking to the ref more than anything. Didn't see the play or the exchange in qweshtion but that is my take considering how BV coaches his men to respect the refs.

If Bouleware had time to wind up a deliver that fastball to the QBs pads, he had time to prepare and deliver a solid, fundamental tackle.

While Bouleware was able to take him down, that approach is much more likely to fail to stop a runner, whereas an actual tackle is much more likely to bring the runner down.

Football fundamentals, and Venerables was right - showboating doesn't win championships.
