Orange Bowl officiating??

Jan 14, 2014, 2:35 PM

After the horrible officiating, what has been done? Has Clemson and or the ACC talked with the Offending league--AC about how horrible of a job they did? Has any investigation of the officials involved been done on a personal and /or financial their personal finances? If yes, what are any results. If not why not?.
There is still no question in my mind that those officials were trying to "influence" the outcome of that game and they deserve harsh treatment for their actions!
Actions like they took tarnish the game of college football IMO. Any you say......

probably done quietly. Looked like the AAC had an axe to grind versus the ACC. Pretty unprofessional stuff.

Re: Orange Bowl officiating??

it was very bad; incompetent @ the least..IMHO officials often seem to try to influence Bowl games more so than regular games.. maybe those officials just were not capable of calling a game for the athletes on the field..maybe they wanted to prove how good they were and the result was the opposite

Who are we going to tell, their mothers?

Jan 14, 2014, 3:22 PM

All of American saw what a $#!77y job they did including the Orange Bowl representatives

My question put bluntly: Was the fix on? What say you

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have family in Ohio all of whom are HUGE Buckeye fans

Jan 14, 2014, 4:18 PM

and they all thought the officiating was horrendous and that they were clearly attempting to influence the outcome of the game.

Horrendous for which side?

Jan 14, 2014, 9:22 PM

Did they think they were getting the short end of the stick, or us?

Looked more like they wanted to be part of the show than

Jan 14, 2014, 3:44 PM

that they had any particular bias.

I agree that they sucked and that we got the worst end of the calls. But rather than having a particular bias, I thought they just suffered from a case of "Ron Cherry Syndrome" and enjoyed giving us Da Bidness while the nation watched ...

I definitely think they should be disciplined in some way.

My discipline would be no more NCAA football games! I agree with your points and still am concerned IF, and I know it may be a big if, but IF some sort of manipulation of the game or score was in play.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Duke also

Jan 14, 2014, 4:10 PM

The officiating in that game was also a joke and it influenced to outcome. The AAC officials should be banned from doing anymore bowl games. Just my thoughts.

I agree and would add as a minimum!

Pass interferences not called against TAM - even the announcers could not believe it and they were pro SEC

Did it strike you as odd that EVERY BCS bowl game underdog won minus the championship game?

When money is at the heart of things, those in control want ratings...and close games bring in the cash.

A great point!

My Theory:

Jan 14, 2014, 5:26 PM

For the sake of TV ratings, the officials were told to enforce any possible infraction to keep the game close.

If Clemson pulled ahead by too may points, the viewers would have turned the TV channel to something else.

I think Clemson could have have won by multiple TDs if there wasn't crappy officiating to help OSU.

What officiating?

Jan 14, 2014, 6:20 PM

I thought what they were doing was called "protecting an investment?"

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I am curious as well and being in the position of NOT

Jan 14, 2014, 6:26 PM

sour-graping since we won anyway, I think it should be looked in to. No small effort could reach such an impact we saw in that game. Was almost too successful.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: I am curious as well and being in the position of NOT

Jan 14, 2014, 9:25 PM

I agree. I think that the NCAA should be contacted by the ACC Commissioner and they should be sent tapes of the bad officiating in both the Orange Bowl and Chick-fil-A bowl as well. I'm sure that this will never happen but saying it should.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

FSU as well- not as blatent as ours but did as well. Both

Jan 14, 2014, 9:53 PM

fsu and the Tigers carrying the conf yet we will see nothing from the ACC commissioner.

*blatant* ...don't blame me, blame google for auto-correct

I agree 100% and the question is what is going to prevent them from working any playoff game or major bowl in the future?
