I switched to gmail. It's free and I've had no problems but I'm sure Google ads are part of the service.

What do you mean by best?

There are several free email services and they all do the basics perfectly (send and receive email). I'm using G-Mail. The main reason is that I suspect Google will be in business longer than Yahoo. But they also have nice features for storage and calendar and synching with my phone contacts.

I wouldn't overthink the decision.

There is no such thing as free email. You either pay cash or with your personal information.

That is incorrect

I would recommend taking a few days to gather names of

Feb 3, 2019, 11:37 AM

all the available email providers, and assemble them into a spreadsheet.

Then, spend another couple of days developing a ranking matrix listing all of the important criteria that you're looking for in an email provider (i.e. send email, receive email, etc).

Then, spend a few weeks/months doing research on each email provider, and rank each of the criteria you developed above for each provider depending on it's importance to you.

Then, proceed with opening an email account with the provider having the highest score on your matrix...and start sending/receiving email.

Best of luck in this important endeavor you are about to embark on.

If you search "best free email" almost every list you'll find has Gmail #1
