What are the chances Florida State loses 2 ACC games?

Oct 21, 2014, 9:54 AM

Seminoles are a good team but not even close to the dominant team they were last year. I don't think there's a great chance FSU loses twice, but I'm starting to see it as a possibility. Their remaining ACC schedule is:

1. @ Louisville
2. Virginia
3. @ Miami
4. Boston College

I think the most obvious team that could beat them is Louisville on a Thursday night. In fact I believe Louisville will win the game. If that were to happen, is it possible that Crab Legs Rapist reacts immaturely to his first ever college loss and mails it in for a few weeks? Both Virginia and BC have pretty good defenses, but those games are in Tally. FSU faces Miami on the road, but the Hurricanes aren't very good. I think it would take a bit of a meltdown by Florida State in 1 of those final 3 games, but if they lose to Louisville next Thursday, it could get the ball rolling.

What are your thoughts/predictions on Florida State's final 4 ACC games?

Honestly,

I think FSU will blow through those teams and won't even stop to wave goodbye.

Very possible.

They haven't played up to their potential so far this season by a long shot.

Agreed. They will leave carnage in their wake.

Slim chance they will loose. Maybe Louisville. However if they loose one, I'll be pulling for another lose. That being said, the Tigers need to keep their heads in the game and keep winning.

Go Tigers

Agreed!

Tigers have to do what is in their control. Win out!

There is a strong chance that they lose to Louisville and Boston College but it's slim. I think Cole can keep this thing going and get a little better in the next coming weeks. wake Forest will be very easy for Clemson due to the fact they have no O line and a true freshman or sophmore QB which ever one starts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'll assign win probabilities to the individual games:

Oct 21, 2014, 10:02 AM

@ Louisville: 85%
Virginia: 95%
@ Miami: 90%
Boston College: 95%

So the chances of them going:

4-0: 69%
3-1: 27%
1-3: 4%
0-4: 0%

So, 4% chance FSU loses 2 or more.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What are those percentages based on?***

Oct 21, 2014, 10:04 AM [ in reply to I'll assign win probabilities to the individual games: ]

So you're telling me there's a chance?!?!?!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ESPN's probably a bit better at predicting:

Oct 21, 2014, 10:22 AM [ in reply to I'll assign win probabilities to the individual games: ]

Also you completely left out the odds of them going 2-2, which makes it seem like you did your math wrong...

http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/fpi?id=52&year=2014

They have:

@ Louisville: 76.2%
vs Virginia: 88.2%
@ Miami: 75.4%
vs Boston College: 91.9%

So with those %'s in mind, FSU would have the following predicted probability of each record
4-0: 46.6%
3-1: 40.1%
2-2: 11.9%
1-3: 1.4%
0-4: 0.1%

So, the more accurate prediction is there's around a 13.3% chance FSU loses 2 or more.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL...yeah, I mucked that one up.

Oct 21, 2014, 10:27 AM

Totally skipped a line in my calculations. Thanks.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

On second thought, based on my numbers, the 4% is still

Oct 21, 2014, 10:28 AM

correct. But the 1-3 would be close to 0%, and a 2-2 mark would be right around 4%. The numbers next to 4-0 and 3-1 are right. Again, based on the win probabilities I assigned.

Anyways, thanks for the correction.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think there are exactly two (2) chances....

Oct 21, 2014, 10:02 AM

slim and none.

FSU will not be foreitting any games this year.....

Oct 21, 2014, 10:10 AM

In the unlikely event FSU is forced to vacate any win from the 2014 season, that will not be decided until well after the season has concluded and by then it really won't matter much anyway.

Than them losing 2.

Re: What are the chances Florida State loses 2 ACC games?

Oct 21, 2014, 10:04 AM

Theres a chance for FSU to drop one a Louisville, but im gonna stick with the noles going undefeated. I just dont see any of the remaining team beating those guys. Best case scenario they go undefeated and put them back at #1 just in time for CFP. I dont want them to lose one they need to lose two for the tigers to even think about an orange bowl bid.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

slim to none!
