What Drad has done to the student section is

a huge mistake. That's a lot of big game atmosphere and noise out of the lower bowl and maybe out of the stadium completely. How much money would that student section atmosphere cost if you had to buy it.
Now speaking of Drad, someone should go back and look at the seating plan that he put in at Georgia Tech. You could turn on a Georgia Tech game and they'd have one of their bigger crowds of the season, yet, the middle of the lower deck would be empty looking. This would be for games against Clemson, Georgia, UNC and those types of games.
This could actually cost wins at some point if the noise level and intensity drops enough. I can't imagine that we are that hard up for that additional revenue. If that's not the reason for doing it, then maybe its to give better seats to bigger boosters. Well, some of those sections are like a library and that is what will replace the students.

Several thousand students have been sitting in the South Top Deck for about 10 years. Students sit beside and in front of our group and the eastern sections are predominantly students. Students sitting in the Top Deck will not be a new occurrence.

To get an idea of what DRad as done to our future football atmosphere, take a look at University of Miami. In 80's when their team was riding high, their stadium was full of rabid students and fans. Now, with their team performing mediocre at best, the stadium looks mostly empty. U of Miami treated their true fans/ students poorly during years of success. Once success ended, the big spenders, as well as everyone else, disappeared on the team.

They will fill the lower student area. They'll allow students to guarantee their seats (by paying $225 ahead of time). Then the remaining seats (and hill) will be filled in by class/request days etc (however it is currently set up) among the remaining students who want a ticket.
I would expect the method of distribution will be the same, except there will now only be say 1000 lower level seats available instead of 8000, depending how many people pay the $225. disclaimer: these are just estimated numbers, but you get my drift.
There's no way they're going to leave empty seats in the lower level. That's just absurd. People need to stop freaking out

will pay, then whatever is left in the lower bowl will be filled with students that didn't pay. Who would be stupid enough to pay?
Probably whatever is left in the lower bowl will be filled with older non-students who pay. This will be the end of the visible student section in Death Valley, sad. They can afford to let students in the same way they always have. It's just greed and it will hurt the overall atmosphere of the stadium.
Our student body isn't as big as most schools anyway, but they make up for it with an electric atmosphere in that section. And that is even with the band exiled to the opposite corner of the hill.

People will pay because it guarantees you a lower level ticket to EVERY game. The alternative is you might get lower for 1 or maybe 2 games and the rest you're upper. I paid my own way through Clemson, and I 100% would've paid $225 to guarantee a lower level ticket to every game.

What are you talking about? Nothing is changing as far as where the student sections will be located. The only difference is, students will now have the opportunity to GUARANTEE themselves a lower deck ticket for all games by paying a measly $225/year. That's $18.75/month, or $32/game.
I don't even want to calculate how much I pay per game to sit in the lower deck...

walk up more steps. A lot more. With the exception of Miami in 2005, Death Valley has not been as loud consistently as it was in the 80's. It will get less loud when the students are stuck up with the pigeons.

This is silly. GT isn't the only school that does this.
