Middle Tennessee State did go 7-6 last year with a trip to the Bahamas.
That's pretty impressive stealing him from a winning program and a December trip to paradise. Instead, he's choosing big-time losing and Cooterville at Christmas.

Coots believe that Clemson is killing themselves and burning bridges by not recruiting in state. So what, are we supposed to recruit and take commitments from 2 * guys because we could possibly upset a HS coach in SC?

Great job by them to beat out middle Tennessee st for his services.
They did pick up 4 star wr shi smith today also. He's by far their best pickup so far. I am shocked as to why an athlete like that with great offers to other schools would ever even consider that dump of a school. Why waste your career? He must want to be a big fish in a small pond and not want to work to be the best on a good team. That's the only reason I can come up with as to why he would go to such a crappy school that's never won anything.

Now he's gone. Shi also wanted to stay in state. After a less than lackluster season this year for USuC,this is one that'll probably be a DeCootment headed elsewhere.

From what I've read, he wants to stay close to home and was not a take for us.
Shoulda probably picked the Citadel though if he wanted to enjoy some success at the next level.

I think it's also very comical how they think because they are adding all these in state guys no one wants it will help them. We are in a position to cherry pick the top of the state. There are only three from the 2017 cycle we have recruited: Rudolf, Tank Robinson, and Ortre Smith and I bet we land all three. This year is overall a week in state crop with only those three shining on a more national level. Next year is a very deep in state class with 6- 7 legit national recruits including some five stars. I wouldn't be surprised if we land the top 6-7 in the state next year. Scar can fight for all the in state left overs they want and fill in the gaps with community college players recruiting against South Alabama and Western Carolina.
