Derrick Henry's "tell"

Jan 7, 2016, 10:32 AM

I'm sure everyone who watches film has noticed this- but Derrick Henry seems to have a "tell". If he isn't getting the ball, and is staying in the pocket to block, he stays on his heels. If he's getting the ball for a running play, he leans forward pre-snap to get his momentum going. He even got called for a false start against MSU b/c Coker paused on the snap count and he was leaning so far he had to take a step b/c he couldn't stay upright.

I'm sure the coaches and players have already seen this on film... but just in case- keep an eye on the "lean".

GO TIGERS!

FIRST SENTENCE- "I'm sure everyone who watches film has noticed this..."

C'mon dude- even a coot like you should have better reading comprehension skills than that... I know pulling for the yard birds this year has been draining, but you're on a Clemson board, you gotta get yourself together before you comment with crap like that...

He might have rushed for 4,000 yards instead of 2,000.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Lemme provide the rushing stats you should be focused on:

Jan 7, 2016, 11:05 AM

Clemson Rushing
CAR YDS AVG TD LONG
Deshaun Watson 21 114 5.4 3 30
Wayne Gallman 19 102 5.4 0 27

remember remember the 28th of November!

What I was trying to say is that you don't have to tell me how good Watson and Gallman are.

for NC as SCAR game ;)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nah, I am impartial in it.

Jan 7, 2016, 11:13 AM

I don't wish for Clemson to lose, except when they play South Carolina (and not always even then). I don't buy into that whole "rivalry" thing where you have to want the other team to lose all the time.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

me either

Jan 7, 2016, 11:18 AM

sike. I pretty much want SCAR to lose constantly at any and every possible thing in life. Not just recruiting or football games, or even women's basketball- I pretty much hope that if they bet on a fart, they lose.

Re: Derrick Henry's "tell"

Jan 7, 2016, 10:43 AM

Henry will not beat Clemson. We have all seen our Tigers shut down better backs than he is. Bama may have a ton of weapons that will be to much for the Tigers but Henry ain't it! Let's play the game and see

Re: Derrick Henry's "tell"

Jan 7, 2016, 10:48 AM

Henry is so unique due to this size though. And he has deceptive speed that catches defenders off guard. Dalvin Cook is a great back but you didn't shut him down and he was playing injured all year. I don't understand why you guys think you have shut down every running back so far..

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Derrick Henry's "tell"

Jan 7, 2016, 10:50 AM

Cook had 111 yards on his first 2 carries. So we busted on those but held him in check/shut him down the rest of the game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NDs OL is just as good as Bamas

Jan 7, 2016, 10:55 AM

Prosise had 50 yards rushing.

And as you said, Cook had 111 on 2 carries and 93 on 19.
Perine had 58.

All of those RBs are in more dynamic and more versatile offenses with breakaway speed. Henry is a more powerful RB, but those 3 are comparable in output in every single way.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

same reason you think every bama running back is great

Jan 7, 2016, 10:51 AM [ in reply to Re: Derrick Henry's "tell" ]

Only to see them be average to below average in the nfl. Bama has a great running game due to blocking. It's not rocket science.

With that said, I have always appreciated Alabama, Mississippi, and Lousiana. Without those hick states we'd be at the bottom. So for that, I thank you.

Cook broke the second play for 75 yards.

Jan 7, 2016, 11:01 AM [ in reply to Re: Derrick Henry's "tell" ]

and that was the only time the criminoles saw the endzone.
Bama is welcome to try 41 yard field goals all night long.

Jan 7, 2016, 11:30 AM [ in reply to Re: Derrick Henry's "tell" ]

We shut down ND back and star receiver. We held Okla to 60 yards. Hood did little against us . After the first play, Cook was a non factor what back ran all over the Tigers first line defense this year? Henry will not do that either. You are drinking the red kool ade if you think Henry gets the job done against a real team

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

no one of except ESPN things Henry is a world beater.

Jan 7, 2016, 10:48 AM

The issue is the 5ft holes he runs through.

Yea ., you are right ,.,. Dalvin Cook got loose on us the very first play of the game .,

If you watch the video close you can see 9 FSU players blatantly holding their blocks until he
was clear .,

Officials rarely call holding on the first play of the game ., That gave Cook what 80 yards ???

Watch the video .,

Wish the TE had a tell

Jan 7, 2016, 10:50 AM

I'm not worried about Henry. We will stop him at times and he will get his at times.
I'm not worried about Ridley. Mac will play "cat defense" on him.
I'm worried about our LBs selling out for the run to stop Henry and that big sonofagun (88?) slipping behind them and eating up the middle all night long.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We always called that a bun.

Jan 7, 2016, 10:53 AM

A tail hangs down the back and is usually preceded by the word 'pony.' That thing is mounted more on the top of his head than the back.

He's also showing that 'roid recession,' in his hairline too.

What if it's play-action?

Jan 7, 2016, 10:55 AM

wouldn't he be on his toes then too because he's not staying in to block?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: What if it's play-action?

Jan 7, 2016, 11:27 AM

If Coker gives him the ball, it's a run. Clemson's defense should look for this.
