Two things. One a spanking is different then a switch, paddle, or belt. Two school grades actually matter sports don’t.

Everything you do matters. Not commenting on the appropriateness of what Tua's Dad did because I didn't see the story, but kids should be taught to do their best at whatever they choose to do.

I believe in spanking a child when needed;however, my stepfather, may he be burning in hell, beat the six of us until your ###, back legs etc were numb.. on occasions it was a 1x2 or whatever was laying around. If you rolled your eyes, didn’t clean something quick enough etc. there are appropriate times and reasons to spank a child, there is never a reason to beat a child. Not performing well in any game is never a reason
