a buddy of mine did similar. He was a chef where I worked in Pawleys Island. He converted a van and left on 17 south. Made it to key west and then around FL and across Hwy 90 in the gulf, across to the Pacific Coast Hwy and up to Seattle. Took him 4 years working and traveling.
He ended up meeting a girl in the Navy in Seattle (she was a rocket scientist or nuclear engineer or something)
They got married and he lives on a cliff overlooking the pacific. (in a fancy house. No van down by the river)
That was 20 years ago
My wife would to it now in our camper.......not sure if I could get away with the purple haired girl with us though......worth a shot.
