My dad died 22 years ago today.

Well, it was actually on the 17th when they pulled him off life support. A brain aneurysm at 67 years old took him out.

I used to think that him going quick like that was a bad way to go, because he never got to see anyone before he died. But then I really thought about it, and i think he went out the way I want to when I go--quick, painless, and in relatively good health--so that I'm not lingering around waiting to die from some insidious disease,or costing millions for the same end result.

After he died, I did some family research--and since 1100 AD in Scotland (There were no records past 1100 that I could find) there have only been 2 men on my fathers family side that lived past 72 years old. One lived to like 88 and the other 76. Most of the rest of them went out in their 50's-60's. Some of them got killed in different wars (and fights) when they were very young, and one died in his 40's from getting run over by a horse and wagon.

I got engaged on this date back in 2004. We split ways about 8 months later. She was an awesome girl and I was a young idiot with more party plans than plans to settle down.

However, it all shaped up nicely for me. Took a while, but it did.
