Weather in Clemson

May 5, 2020, 4:40 PM

Does anyone remember as many storms around Clemson as we have had lately? Bad storm last night and more tonight. Not to mention all the tornado warnings.

Lived in Greenville 65 years and don't ever remember anything like the weather we're having. It's always been changeable but these tornado warnings and high winds are new to me. I remember in the 70s a tornado took the roof off a house and that seemed crazy rare to me.

If people were as good as their obituary - and products were as good as advertised - this would truly be a wonderful world !!

Never forget a great day on Greenwood in January.

Couldn't get the hybrids out of the net fast enough to get the umbrella back in the water.

Found out when we took out there had been a tornado come through Saluda that morning while we were haulin' 'em in.

A guy up north told me that he was on a river up there one day and the weather got uglier and uglier and the trout started taken his lure every cast. Was pullin' 'em out so fast he couldn't keep count. He got a little scared but was having such a good day he said there was no way he was leavn' that river. That's when he saw a tornado cross the river a half mile from him.

I can remember almost gettin' killed by lightning on Star Fort Pond one summer afternoon when the clouds got darker and darker but the cats were started a feeding frenzy. My (NOT COOT) buddy (Spud) said he wanted to stay. Ten minutes later we were putt puttin' back to the metal pier with rain so hard we couldn't see fifty feet ahead.

Got out of the little john boat right when a bolt hit less than a hundred yards away. Of course my buddy said it was well worth almost gettin' fried.

Yes, Spud, fish do crazy before storms. And so do a lot of fishermen.

I remember a day like that on Clarks Hill back in the early

May 6, 2020, 1:59 AM

70s. I still call it Clarks Hill, they renamed it to Lake Thurmond at some point in the 80s I think. Camping at Elijah Clark State Park. Storm rolled in and we were tied up under the big bridge. Lightning popping all around us, but we were too young/stupid/stoned to care. Filled the cooler up that night. LOL

A drunk will run a STOP sign, but a stoner will wait for it to turn green.
