butt GTO, Camaro, Charger, Challenger (Hellcat for both). They aren't exactly fuel efficient and slow. I wanted this for the longest time around the 2000 era, but now that I have common sense and under the age of 50 I still do not own one of these cars.

I get the Charger as rental car pretty often.

The automatic gear shift in the Charger is effing stupid, and goes into N more often that R or D. The speed is kind of fun, but, like you, I haven't hit mid life crisis yet, so not that impressive.

"The Car Guy." Those in the 50s and 60s even into the 70s were cool. I don't know about the 80s. Fast forward and you have those losers in their Civics. They seem to have no real marketable qualities. Were the greasers just as bad, just not as poorly dressed?

I'd say we are in better times than the muscle car era.

An Accord V6 coupe today would smoke almost any muscle car
Look at all you have today.
Charger/Challenger Hellcat - 700+hp Mustang GT350 - over 500hp and it can actually corner too 3 flavors of Camaro V8, with the mildest of the bunch sporting 450+ horsepower The best Corvette ever made A Cadillac sedan with 640hp A chevrolet sedan with a manual transmission and over 400hp
In short, there's no reason, other than nostalgia that I'd trade today's cars for the cars of the late 60's and early 70's. We are truly in the golden era of the combustion engine automobile right now. I think it can only go downhill from here.

Why do you want to work on them?

What do you need to do to a car that goes 0-60 in under 5 seconds, gets 23 mpg, and will last 100K miles+ if you do a modicum of maintenance?
It's like the truck I just got. Dude I works with told me "well you gotta get a tuner and cold air intake for it". Why? That thing has like 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque. I'm towing a boat (occasionally), not a house..why would I need anything more that would invalidate a 72K mile bumper to bumper warranty?
