Boston College

Nov 4, 2018, 9:33 AM

As I am from the Boston area and currently live here, I have watched several of BC's games this year. For starters, BC will always play you very physical, they are well coached and their biggest goal is to control the line of scrimmage. This BC teams differs from previous BC teams (within past 10 years) for the following:

1. BC QB - Anthony Brown is the best QB they have had since Matt Ryan.
2. BC Athleticism - They are a bit more athletic than years past, particularly speed coming out of the backfield.

Keys to Clemson win:

1. Control the Line - Our big DLs should manhandle their offensive line, which would make it extremely difficult for them to run against us. Although they have a good, mobile QB, I don't think they have the weapons to beat us if he is running from our DLs all game.

2. Speed - We have always had a considerable speed and athlete advantage against BC. BC wants this to be a brawl, but Clemson needs to maintain our advantage with the number of weapons we have offensively. The weather is going to be a bit cold and some rain (based on current weather report) for Saturday night, so it could potentially affect our passing game, especially the deep ball. Therefore, we need to open it up with short passes and push their DL back so that our RBs can get a few steps into their defensive backfield and take off.

I have no doubt our coaches will prepare them for victory, but just thought I would add a few notes as I have watched BC play 3 or 4 times this year and know how they differ from recent BC teams.

I think we'd do well to move the sticks and pound them some on D. sometimes we get too deep throw oriented

Good analysis.

I would add that Brown, while he may be a serviceable QB, is 67th in QBR according to ESPN. Conversely, TL is 24th. If we can shut down the run, and we should, it will be a long day for BC.

Stop the run like we have all year and we will be fine

BC's offense will be severely limited if they can't run consistently against us.
