We need to do away with Conferences.

They distract from teams. Get rid of the collective BS and play regional and national schedules with the 64 best football schools. I have no allegiance to the ACC. Or any other conference. Just MY TEAM. Go Tigers!!!!

Which is the result of collective bargaining

Conferences have a purpose. 1 of those is collective bargaining for media rights for sports. Back before media rights were so lucrative, they allowed for similar schools to have consistency in scheduling. Think about high school divisions. Chances are your high school has played the same school forever. There's history, and it matters.
Clemson is a founding member of the ACC (1953). Personally, I love the ACC. It's members are nationally relevant in football, basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis, track & field... all sports that we, in the South, typically care about.
But we tend to focus a lot of attention on Football. That's OK. But, I wouldn't recommend looking at 1 year where Clemson is dominant and others are not and pretend that's normal. It's not. FSU, VT, Miami, Louisville, GT, UNC... they have all had relevant football programs at one time or another. And they will again.
The ACC is a fantastic conference affiliation. The SEC got the jump on advertising their conference with the SEC network. The whole "it just means more" slogan really turns my stomach.
Wait until the CFP starts and those games are played. You won't hear much about conferences then.

So you divide the country into 4 sections, or regions. I can count at least 26 Division 1 schools in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Tell me where it goes , and who plays whom?

And who determines what are Regional and National schedules? And what are the 64 best teams? And how many regular-season games do they play? How for instance do you determine if Georgia plays Clemson or Bama, or Auburn, or if Clemson play UNC but not Georgia Tech? Do FSU and Florida play every year, but not Florida and Miami. Does Pittsburg play Penn State? Does Penn State play Maryland or is Maryland even considered one of the best 64 teams? How do you schedule Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, with Nebraska, or Texas? That's why you have conferences, but how in the heck does a TAMU and Missouri end up in the freaking SEC Conference?
