Please. These coaches are paid annual salaries now that can last a LIFETIME for many.

Don’t think Dabo would go for that. He has been asked numerous times about going to Alabama or the NFL and he is always evasive. He always says he is happy where he is but he also says “you never say never”. There may come a time when he wants to pursue another challenge.

From Clemson’s point of view it also would not make sense. Dabo is not going to be a young, energetic coach forever. He’s growing older every day. The day will come when he can no longer play HORSE with recruits or do a lot of the things he does physically. If we are locked into a life time contract do you really feel he would be as effective at 80 (like Bobby Bowden) as he is now? At that point recruits will look at him as an old man and wonder just how much longer he will be at Clemson. His assistant coaches will feel the same way and will be harder to retain also.

Enjoy the ride now. It won’t last forever.
