I find this funny.
Last night Auburn had their best defensive performance in over 30 years.
I've been watching Auburn for 35+ years and that was the most dominant DL I've ever seen.
5* Backups .... 4 & 5 star freshman beating out other 4 & 5 stars. I've never seen anything like it.
Look, every team plays cupcakes. We usually play 2 or 3 cupcakes/ year and one good OOC team.
For us this year, it's GA SO, Mercer & LA Monroe .... then y'all for a quality matchup.
SO, for over 30 years we play these cup cakes. We've shut out several, but they may get 200, 250+ yards.
I've never seen us hold ANYONE under 100.
Early in the 4th they finally took our 1s out .... at that point .... GA SO had 23 yds.
They also ran the triple option, had a very fast/athletic QB .... that's what pleased me the most.
Our discipline. We didn't miss an assignment all night and that QB was jukin & jivin and we contained him.
I know yawl like to jab Steele. But like I've said on here before .... ON PAPER, this is the best team Auburn has ever had
(based on recruiting rankings and #s of 4 and 5 stars).
He didn't have this type of talent when he was at Clemson.
One of you mentioned how good yawl were .... Yes, but it wasn't like this. If Steele were at Clemson this year, he'd do well too. Because now, y'all have 4 of 5 years of Top 10 talent.
Anyway. The guy has been tested. He's been all over the place and has been coaching over a 1/4 century. HE knows what he's doing. But like I've always said .... Great players make good coaches look great.
Steele did a great job last year .... and he's off to a good start, with a record setting night, this year.

My point was he set a record that was 30 plus years old.
I saw that 1 yard passing.
When did it come?
When I was watching, they were running the ball on 3rd and 10 and 3rd and 15.
How many passing attempts did KSU have?

I see where they attemted 4 passes.
GA SO attempted 8 passes.
5 sacks, an INT, an incompletion & 1 completion for 8 yds.
But let's be honest. Neither Kent State nor GA SO
are passing teams.

My point is we are not bragging about waxing KENT St and setting records just like you should not be writing long posts about setting records against Georgia Southern. It doesn't matter.
We do not care for Kevin Steele. We are glad he is gone. We are glad you like having him.

as for Auburn, some of us must have forgotten the for Troy put us in last year. or the year Marshall beat us. or App St beating bigger programs . or Pitt bearing us last year. I was raised a Clemson fan, but went to The Citadel. as a result, I know GaS can field a very effective team. so, all I know about Auburn is that y'all are better than Kent and better than GaS.
Vegas has us favored right now and I think we held up our end of things last week better than anyone in the top 5. I don't know what this means for this weekend. I believe we should win, but I'm thinking Auburn will give us their best which means we will have our hands full. I'm not prepared to talk smack yet and have little patience for those who are.
btw, Bama looks beatable. wish you well against them.

You didn't see ONE Snap of 1st team ALL SEC RB Kam Pittway last year.
You didn't see more than 1/2 of our snaps against our starting QB last year.
Had White played every snap and Pettway had about 20 carries, we win by 10.
As is was (worst game plan ever playing 3 QBs in and out) we were throwing the ball in the end zone for the win.
You'll see Pittway, a better QB, and a better Defense than last year .... when y'all scored 19 points with the best player in your schools history .... Mike Williams and the RB. blah blah blah ... you've got good guys Cain ... etc.
They're not Watson, Williams and RB (name escapes me)

Dude even if he runs for 200 yards it won't be enough.
He might break a 100, you see Cook for FSU was way better than pittway and that was not enough.
Nobody especially the Tiger D is not scared of a running back.

The real Tigers will win by 17, 38-21 in our Tiger den Death Valley. It could be worse but I'm being very respectful.
Dabo won't play around this time but the eagles can fly away and regroup the following week.

It was against Georgia Southern, not App State. But you're right, Clemson was playing walkon's in the 3rd quarter. 4th quarter. LOL

They held clemson to fewer yards than anyone last year and that includes fsu and bama.
Despite the meme among clemson fans who trash all our x coaches, he is actually a widely respected dc and had two good defenses with clemson before the 2011 season (when we won the acc by the way).

Now that Francois is injured.
You're right Auburnfan... your defense is very stout. I don't care who you played. They were the best we saw last year and you held us down all night - and I think they're better this year. Beating Kent or Ga Soutern tells us very little.
That said, Clemsons defense is at least as good this year as Alabamas was last year... and the Tide held Pettway to 18 yds rushing on 12 carries. Pettway is a great back, but he's going against an athletic, massive front 7, all of which will be in he NFL in the next 1-3 yrs. You also have a better qb than you did last year, but if you can't run, our ends will tee off on him. Sound familiar?
Offensively, Clemson will likely have better luck against your D than your offense will have against ours.
This adds up to a slugfest like last year, but in Death Valley and with out defense being a bit better than yours, the edge has to go to Clemson. Vegas thinks so... and their record is pretty good. Not perfect... but pretty good.
