According to TJ Gurley.....

Sep 11, 2013, 10:30 AM

The Coot safety that was beat like a drum Saturday ....

"Georgia is a pretty good team. I think they had more total yards against Clemson than against us. We shut them down a little bit."

Hard to argue with that logic

2012_pickem_champ.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LOL

Sep 11, 2013, 10:44 AM

545 yards - 35 points - 32:18 TOP
538 yards - 41 points - 35:20 TOP

Yeah, you guys did a lot better than Clemson, you really shut them down!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

well

Sep 11, 2013, 10:45 AM

Hey 7 yards is almost a first down.

Re: According to TJ Gurley.....

Sep 11, 2013, 10:45 AM

South Carolina forced 1 punt and 1 fumble. Georgia either scored or ran out the clock to end the half/game on their other drives.

Clemson forced 6 punts, forced a fumble, had an INT, and a Turnover on Downs.

TJ Gurley is an idiot.

Re: Re: According to TJ Gurley.....

Sep 11, 2013, 11:11 AM

Does this mean our offense is better because you punted 4 more times than we did?

Ultimately, both defenses were poor.

No. Our offense is better because we scored more points, had

Sep 11, 2013, 11:14 AM

less turnovers, and WON the game. Chickens........

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You put up 30 and we put up 38.

Sep 11, 2013, 11:15 AM [ in reply to Re: Re: According to TJ Gurley..... ]

So... no.

We scored more points and gave up less.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not to mention that 7 of those points were basically garbage

Sep 11, 2013, 11:20 AM

Yeah, we gave'em up, but I'm not so sure they score if we're not in prevent mode. I think it's obvious who played better against Georgia from the stats available, but if Clemson comes out and attacks Georgia on that last drive, maybe you're looking at 50 less yards and 7 less points.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

More efficient maybe

Sep 11, 2013, 11:19 AM [ in reply to Re: Re: According to TJ Gurley..... ]

better, no.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why u asking me? Ask TJ! He said it***

Sep 11, 2013, 11:30 AM [ in reply to Re: Re: According to TJ Gurley..... ]

Dumb coots....

Clemson scored more points = offense was better vs UGA
Clemson allowed less points = defense was better vs UGA

Clemson vs SC totalo yards means UGA was more productive in less yards vs SCar than they were vs Clemson (i.e. they had to fight for more yards vs Clemson, but still ended up with less points than vs SCar and lost the game as well vs winning against SCar)...

Do you guys just go though life not understanding logic and math for a reason?

Re: Re: Re: According to TJ Gurley.....

Sep 11, 2013, 11:46 AM

It was the Clemson fan who made that argument...

"Smelley, Garcia, and Beecher are going to lead you to 4-8." - york_tiger

I don't think the offenses were the problem for either team

Sep 11, 2013, 11:35 AM [ in reply to Re: Re: According to TJ Gurley..... ]

against UGA. But an argument could certainly be made that South Carolina's offense was better against UGA than Clemson's was.

If SC could have punched in the TD at the goal-line, I would maybe even agree. Ultimately though, you have to come up with the big plays in the game, and that's where Clemson gets the edge.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If we had stuck to our regular D at the end of the game

Sep 11, 2013, 12:16 PM [ in reply to Re: Re: According to TJ Gurley..... ]

instead of the prevent (which I hate)they would not have scored again. I don't think there is much argument there.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Let em think that - I think attack and gamble will be more

Sep 11, 2013, 10:48 AM

and more in D's plan with much less "prevent" D. And it will get better as the season goes on - as will the d backs - Go Tigers! Smashing coots this year and for several years in a row, now that D is getting better!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you just don't argue with sound logic***

Sep 11, 2013, 10:49 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We gave up less than 10 yards more to UGA

Sep 11, 2013, 10:50 AM

than South Carolina. And we played prevent defense in the later parts of the game where UGA racked up an additional 70 yards or so. In my opinion, our defense outplayed South Carolina's defense against UGA, regardless of stats. The score is what counts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nice stat from the kid that busted coverage giving up

Sep 11, 2013, 10:50 AM

a pass play half the field long for 6 points.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The only thing that matters

Sep 11, 2013, 11:02 AM

Is that this year we are undefeated against Georgia and uSUC is not. Enough said.

Sep 11, 2013, 11:15 AM

Hey TJ, they also had less points scored against Clemson too...and less points allowed....
Clemson 38 GA 35
SCar 30 GA 41

Enjoy that 5th place ring....

Re: According to TJ Gurley..... They gave the Ga DB #4

Sep 11, 2013, 11:35 AM

the only SCjr gameball.

He kept it from being a 25 pt Ga beatdown.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The funny part to me is not that he thinks they did better

Sep 11, 2013, 11:43 AM

than Clemson. It's that giving up 7 yards less than 545 means you "shut them down a little bit."
