Best flea medicine. What do you think works the best?

Nov 21, 2020, 10:42 AM

My dog never got fleas in Florida, but up here in NC they seem easy to get, because he is getting some. I went to the pet store and they gave me some natural peppermint stuff, but it doesn't work well.

Get boric acid and brush it into all your rugs and carpets

vacuum after 24 hours, repeat every 5 days until fleas gone - gotta get rid of the eggs in your house

Meanwhile, get the good stuff from the vet, preferably one that prevents heart worms too and follow the application schedule exactly.

Spray your yard to prevent reinfection

Nexguard is what we use and never have an issue

but a vet has to write a RX.

You also need a heartworm med btw.

We do Sentinel for 6 months.

We switch to Heartgard Plus and NexGard during tick season. This works really well with our 4.

I really like Trifexis, but one of our dogs has adverse reactions to it.

Once you get a steady monthly dose of one of these, the fleas will not be a problem.
