Based on a thread from yesterday, it seems not everyone is aware the quote was attributed to Steve Spurrier by the university of South Carolina. Sack didn't deny it until after Dabo called him out about it.
Unbelievable that some folks still didn't know that, but I hope this helps.

Would you expect him to say that they ARE Clemson? That would be an error. Clemson and South Carolina are two separate institutions.

The quote is pretty straightforward. Last year we weren't as good as LSU or Alabama, but we were better than Clemson.
Not that hard to figure out.

At first, it was "he didn't say that, Todd Ellis said it."
Now it's "the quote is technically true."

Where did I say it wasn't Spurrier? The quote was attributed to him and he certainly didn't deny it. I'm sure if he'd have thought of it, he would've said it in an interview.

You guys like to claim that Dabo's rant was ok because it was loaded with "facts." What isn't factual about the quote the OP posted? Ellis said it but I'd be ok if Spurrier had. I think it's clever, funny, and....FACT. We weren't as good as the first two and we were definitely better than the last one. Lighten up guys.

he would deny it. He owns Clemson and he would be proud to claim the statement if he said it. He sure hasn't denied the Tn & FSU digs as well as many more through the years.

He owns Clemson? I didn't know having a losing record to a program counted as "owning" these days. Hm. Guess y'all's memory really does only go back to '09
