Waterless urinals at work

Nov 19, 2020, 10:20 AM

Has a little plaque that says "Saves an average 40,000 gallons per year".

That's a lot of water. My previous workplace urinal used a pint per flush (0.125 gallons).

If I base the maths on that, that means I has to flush 2.8 times every minute of the work day.

Sounds like a lotta stream crossing to justify "40,000 gallons per year". How many people is that per urinal to flush 2.8X per minute?

I prolly pee 3X per day, I know old people like to pee a lot, maybe 6X per work day?

So 1360 flushes per day / 6 is 227 old dudes using 1 urinal.

I don't think so.

Horry County Schools have these in their athletic facilities

They are all over Europe and you are right about the smell.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Sounds like your previous place had high efficiency urinals as well.

Nov 19, 2020, 10:26 AM

Just not waterless. A typical urinal diaphragm uses about 1 gallon per flush.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm just saying, make it a gallon

Nov 19, 2020, 10:30 AM

That's a flush every 3 minutes. There's still a line to take a leak to use 40,000 gallons per year.

40,000 gallons is more than a stretch. It's a #### lie.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You’re probably right.

Nov 19, 2020, 10:38 AM

Typical urinal isn’t used 109 times per day. Maybe in a retail store. Definitely in an entertainment venue and probably airports though. They probably just forgot to say “saves an average of 40,000 gallons per year in major entertainment venues and airports.” You know somebody has to sell waterless uinals. And I’d bet he’s one heck of a salesman. I mean, we had waterless urinals for free long before we ever had indoor plumbing.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If it's an average they may have one

Nov 19, 2020, 10:39 AM

huge outlier. Like a urinal that uses 100,000 gallons of water. Like the females at R Kelly's house

That's my favorite kind....Stuck in an office for a couple

Nov 19, 2020, 10:40 AM [ in reply to You’re probably right. ]

weeks, ready to get back to my home office where muh urinals are waterless, spacious, and peaceful.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You have to compare to the 1.0 GPF urinal

Nov 19, 2020, 10:27 AM

0.125 are considered low flow.

Also, almost no one uses waterless anymore because they stink.

The couple of places that demanded they have waterless we stubbed water in the wall so they can add a flush valve in the future.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Weird I haven't noticed a stinch with these, but the office

Nov 19, 2020, 10:31 AM

isn't full either.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They stink too

Nov 19, 2020, 10:29 AM

I'd rather pee in Cullowhee.

Over on my side, the fountain out front dropped 3-4 feet every time someone flushed a urinal

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

This makes me think you now work in a building

Nov 19, 2020, 10:35 AM

where I used to work, as that is the only place I've ever seen those. Also, does your math only account for 8 or 9 hours?

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Doesn't matter, it's based on average work hours per year

Nov 19, 2020, 10:41 AM

And I used 6 pees a day which I think is pretty safe

Yet another example of how hypocritical our society is

Nov 19, 2020, 11:27 AM [ in reply to Peeing outside is the original waterless urinal*** ]

Feminism has allowed women to organize and protest basically anything. Don't like the fact that a stranger pulled up a chair to your table at a restaurant and started breastfeeding? Even though it's totally rational to be weirded out? Well, #### you and your toxic masculinity buddy.

We're supposed to be concerned about the environment, yet we're supposed to pee into potable water, because civilization or something. We are shamed, and even arrested for peeing outside. One could even say oppressed.

We. Need. Masculinism. Right. Now. Ffucking SO sick of it, like can't I pee naturally without being sexualized?

Not as bad as the "compost" ###tter at the Congaree

Nov 19, 2020, 11:52 AM

National Park near Columbia. It's a hole in the ground, with a toilet on top. Shine a flashlight down there and you will see what hell must look like. Don't do it. Just say, there was some movement, and things living in there. I opted to pee and poop in the woods. Made a porta potty after a Clemson game seem clean.
