Hitchcock used chocolate sauce for blood in the shower scene. That proved to be the most realistic for a black and white movie.

Funny, they were talking about this movie on the radio
a few days ago. Apparently, the shower scene in Psycho
was the first time that a toilet was shown in a film.
Bet they could get plenty of toilet paper then lol.
