Yes, Spurrier is my own menace. The one time he coaches the team I grow up following (boycotting til Snyder dies), he can't win.
Oh and guess what my first college football game was...

Respect him infinitely. 2nd best coach in my book. The best is pictured below.

our juggernaut coach, qb, and d. I do credit Spurrier training Dabo to beat specific teams. Those 5 years were some tough training, but our boy has 2 nattys to show for it.

There never was and never will be a reason I'd take my "hat off" to Spurrier.
I know the man, and he's a total narcissist. His egregious arrogance is beyond description.
Don't give a hoot how much he's won - his "god" is SPURRIER - preacher's son or not. Plus - he's always hated Clemson's guts with all of his black heart.
The guy is unapproachable. His wife, on the other hand, is a very nice lady. How she's stayed with "the ole creepy ball coach" all these years beats the heck out of me.
There are ways to be successful - ways to "make it big." The RIGHT way - like Dabo, Coach BV, #42 Wilkins, #13 Renfrow & others. Or you can go the route of Spurrier - trampling on anyone who doesn't kiss you ring while strutting through life devoid of one shred of humility.

Your OP would be accurate if you substitute "I've got to take my" instead of "You got to". The sentence would be grammatically correct and reflect how most tnetters feel about spurlid. He cheated at scar and can't pass up an opportunity to gig a rival from 15/20 years that he still holds a grudge against.
Try this post on the "For Godless Fools" website. You'll get more agreement .
