What about the Chick-fil-A win over #6 UTenn.

I believe we were ranked in the 20s at the time.

Plus, the win over #3 FSU that same year was huge.

That is why I voted 'No'

No...we have had plenty of big wins!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's a big win, and definitely the bigest of the season

Jan 1, 2013, 7:43 PM

but as far as lasting impact, I think winning your conference would be bigger.

IDK anymore, this SEC/LSU win seems to give our program

Jan 1, 2013, 8:10 PM

more credibility than in-conference games even if it is a conf championship. We win the ACC, it's huge for us, but a win like this garners respect from the entire country, including all of the Coot fans I have been around. They are in shock.

5. too ridiculous a question to even think about

Jan 1, 2013, 7:45 PM

I would guess WVU fans were asking a similar question last year at this time.

No. 1987 UGA, 1989 FSU, 1988 Oklahoma, 2003

Jan 1, 2013, 7:55 PM

FSU, 2003 UT, 2011 VT in ACCCG were all just as big.

i've been having this debate and think this one pulls ahead

Jan 1, 2013, 8:15 PM

of some/most of those because it was win #11 which we hadn't done in 30 years, whereas UT 03 was win #9. I think they are close but give a slight edge to LSU.

VT was huge because it was for an acc title, VT was ranked high (just like LSU and UT in the other two examples) and it was win #10 which we hadn't done in 20 years.

I also think the VT regular season last year was big because it was in lane and capped off the Aub-FSU-VT win streak.

There were also two very big wins in 2006, the @FSU win and the GT gameday win. Those might fall behind because we ended up crapping the bed on the season.

In the post Ford era I think the two biggest are VT ACC title and this LSU win, for the reasons I said above. But in credit to Swinney, in 4 1/2 years he has more big wins and BIGGER wins then Bowden had in 9 1/2 years.

Oklahoma game is way ahead in my mind.

All the bullchit talk from the sooners made it wonderful. At least Miles kept a muzzle on his team.

I also think the Peach Bowl over UcheaT was a bigger victory because they had the same bullchit. Of course I had moved back to Tenn where I was born and raised by that game so I got a tripple dose of SEC bull. I still live here. The Tenn fans made excuses for a year or so then began to respect the PAW.

This was an outstanding game and if someone wants to claim it the greatest then I can sure understand.

As far as "exciting" wins

Jan 1, 2013, 8:04 PM

I've witnessed

1. 1981 Orange Bowl
2. 1977 vs usuc
3. 2012 Peach Bowl
