Joe Namath, Peyton Manning, and.....Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence texts back and forth with Peyton Manning, a sure-fire first-ballot Hall of Fame choice in 2021, and has another Hall of Famer in Joe Namath advising his former team to ditch their current starting quarterback and select Lawrence. Full Story »

none of which means anything....there was no texting when these 2 great QB's were youngsters....
this who texts who is so over played today........

example....i have texted great people...means NOTHING.....so what...

Lawrence will make his own way.......if he turns out great i doubt anyone will be surprised....

if he goes south and never wins a game, that too would have nothing to do with who he texts today...

football is about performance....stats.....

check old QB stat sheets and see if there's a WHO HE TEXTED column.....lol

This is a bad take.

The article isn't saying Trevor will be good because he texts Manning.

It's just pointing out that not many athletes get to have the opportunity to become even a little close with the Hall of Fame players they grew up emulating.

He's 21 years old and he gets to casually have conversation with a Hall of Famer at his position who is likely a very positive influence on how Trevor could/should handle himself moving forward.

That's a pretty cool thing for Trevor to get to be able to do.

That’s a bit of a sour attitude you’re exhibiting.
Regarding texting; You may have texted someone “great” or famous, but I’m sure they didn’t respond. They certainly didn’t maintain ongoing communication.
So yes, it is pretty neat that Peyton and Trevor regularly communicate.

The fact that people still ask him questions about football/ the Jets and post his answers for public consumption after that video says A LOT about our country.
