Was Over at Donkey Derby Days in Cripple Creek Yesterday

Jun 25, 2017, 11:16 AM

I had on my Tiger polo shirt and cap. I ran into an early 2000s graduate and had a good chat. As I was leaving him a KState fan came up and congratulated me on our championship. He said he was glad to see the SEC lose any time any where. He hope Venebles will take over when Snyder retires, but agrees we probably have him locked in until Jake finishes. He described Brent as a real "animal" when he was playing. Finally a guy asked if I was a Clemson grad. He had on a Bama hat. I just smiled and said "What can I tell you?" He gave me a goofy grin and just shook his head.

It was a nice cool day in Colorado around 64 degrees.

Made some money off me, but not much. With free drinks I was basically even. Wife and I went up there one fall for a train ride when the aspens were turning. Beautiful.

I'm just a ways down the Hwy 24 pass from CC, in Monument. It's surprising how many Clemson alums we have here along the front range.

I fondly remember co-hosting a viewing party together with an older alum living in Denver, in Monument, for our local Colorado alums when we smacked Nebraska for the national championship in January 1982.
