While this in no way excuses the cop's actions it probably had something to do with why this started and escalated to the point it did.

He wasn't fighting. Cop was just pure wrong.

You can look at this board, too. Many, many more threads about Floyd than about the police officer. It doesn't mean one life is more important than another...but one of the deaths is more interesting to people. Not saying that's right, but it's the way it is.

making...I think the cable news sites are going to cover what the people want to see covered, to generate ad revenue. So if the news channels, across political biases, aren't talking about something, then it's probably something that the people, en masse, aren't too interested in.

Which means doing what the viewers want. Most of the complaints I see about the media are really rooted in us, IMO.
We complain that they are biased, but we are obviously biased. We complain they are divisive, but we crave the division. We complain that they are negative, but we always pay more attention to negative than positive.

Let's remember that opiates (ie. Fentanyl, which is a synthetic opiate 100x more potent than street heroin) are respiratory depressants, as well as decreasing blood flow back to the heart. Just a FWIW.
And I don't buy the 'compromised carotids' narrative but I do totally support asphyxiation by strangling with a knee. Do you have any idea how hard it would be to cut off both carotids with a knee on ONE side of the neck? ? Darn near impossible.

Narcotics don’t affect preload (ie blood return to heart). They do suppress respiratory drive if overdosed. The poor guys carotid were not occluded but the knee, and your assumption about how difficult that would be is correct. That being said, carotid occlusion would stroke you out, not instantly kill you.
