Vols next Coach?

Although the job is not officially open yet, Dino Babers makes as much sense as anybody else.

I like the guy from Troy. He's from the deep south.

My thoughts exactly.

I don't know that I want him recruiting in our back yard though.

It's hard to figure out the situation in Vol country. They can get 100,000 fans to show up at a tiddle wink contest, but they can't find a coach worth a poot. (personally I am glad) Phillip Fulmer was smiling last Saturday and I bet it was not a smile of pleasure but one of contempt.

If the Vols were smart they would go after Dino Babers but as of yet the Vols administration has not done anything to indicate they are smart. Babers can coach and doesn't need a roster full of 5 stars to win.

The Tennessee fan base seems to think John Gruden or Chip Kelly will be their next coach. I'm fairly certain Gruden ain't touching the college football coaching gig with a ten foot pole so that one seems more fantasy than reality. Chip Kelly? Maybe but every major college thinking about getting a new coach for next season is talking Chip Kelly (i.e. UCLA, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Nebraska etc..). Word is that Kelly hates the recruiting game (one of the reasons he left for the NFL) and while he had a good run in Oregon who knows what he would do at the dumpster fire that is Tennessee right now. There is a lot of recruiting competition in the Tennessee area (Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Auburn etc...) and he may prefer somewhere where the recruiting game is a little less competitive.

I'm thinking willie Korn.

If I'm Gruden then I'm set for life. He loves calling games and doing his side things like Gruden's QB camp.

Plus, who the #### wants to actually go to a dumpster fire?

How is Gruden's name still coming up as pipe dreams for fans wanting a new coach??? He hasn't coached in nearly a decade. Give it up already he isn't coaching again.

And he has said he won't coach college***

Babers should stay at Cuse, looks to have started something good there..

Sometimes it's better to avoid so called big jobs. Certain fan bases have ridiculous expectations and don't buy into the coach from the get go

Jon Gruden

Was seen in the stands at the Tenn game Saturday, confirmed by my manager (Tennessee grad who went to the game). His sons go there too I believe.

Here is this link too.

Why not?

If UcheaT thinks the best guy out there is whatever, they will hire him.

Sounds to me more like he pretty much came right out with it, not implied.

He’s ready to get out of the ACC and Tennessee is a program that might just let him have his way right now.

The best choice..

would probably be Jeff Brohm from Purdue(if he was willing to leave after one year). He's from Louisville, and has turned programs around at both Western Kentucky and Purdue. He also knows the area from recruiting at Western Kentucky.

Is Lane Kiffen still available? He would be a perfect fit for UT, and his ex-wife looked pretty good in UT orange.

He lost to Middle Tenn. State this year. He's doing a good

... that Gamecocks think they will be the reason he got fired.

Actually, they're right. The Tenn Admin are wondering how in the #### the Vols could lose to a team like USuC this many times in a row.

Oops.

4th Week 2nd Season

Posted: Oct 17, 2017 8:37 PM

Is Babers mantra. His teams ‘clicked’ at both Eastern Illinois amd BGSU both in the 4th week of the second season.

He’s said that for the past year plus, even this year after the MTSU loss. To see what happened last Friday was pretty amazing for him as much as it hurt for us.

That being said, his offense is a gimmick offense and perfectly suited (if he’s gonna be at a power 5 school) for the Carrier Dome. Syracuse has committed to significant upgrades at the Dome and they already have one of the best indoor practice facilities in the country.

He would be smart to stay at Syracuse for a while.

His name used to get bounced around now he's not even mentioned or heard from.

I see he is a CBS analyst.

Giving Dino the recruiting and tools that Tennessee has would be scary...wouldn't want him recruiting in our backyard
