There were a lot of mistakes by the defense last night, but our defense is better than it was in the early part of the year and way better than 70-33. We need some play makers on defense and some time. I like our chances to make some big strides on defense next season.

Venebles didn't drop 3 potential interceptions. He's not the problem. Gotta make big plays in big games. He's doing pretty good with what he has IMO

or more than the X's and O's.
The scary thing is I don't know how it is much better at DB next year. The DL and LB should be better with more experience from the young guys and transfer LB Kellen Jones. However, DB is a real concern.

They did a pretty good job on defense. Remember they only have 1 senior on the DL and the rest inexperienced sophomores. The Gamecocks had 2 seniors plus all-world Clowney. If you just give Venables Clowney, Clemson's defense dominates the Gamecocks.

Venables isn't the problem. Neither was Steele. Steele is better than Venables though.

No, the D didn't get off the field very well, but the O didn't hang onto the ball very long either.
