Update on FSU.

Yesterday I posted on my Nole board and on my Facebook page that the administration should just cancel the rest of the season. No reason to delay announcing that the Duke game would be cancelled, they should do it now.

Today at church, I talked to several of my FSU buddies. All are confused as to why we didn't have enough players to play yesterday. We have never had a COVID outbreak. We had ONE positive test. And, somehow that put us down to 44 players.

Well, this evening, it was announced that the Duke game would not be played. Miami will play Duke this Saturday.

No official word that I can see on the Clemson/FSU game on 12/12. But, I cannot imagine it being played.

After Jimbo left us in a horrible situation, we didn't' think it could get worse. We hired Taggart and learned that we were wrong. It did get worse. After we fired him and hired Taggart we were sure it couldn't get worse. We were wrong again.

Most of us are now afraid to say, "Well, this has to be rock bottom. No place to go but up." We know from very recent history, no matter how bad it is now, it could get worse.

Some people look at a glass and say it is half full. Others look at the same glass and say it's half empty. Nole fans are looking at the glass and saying, "That's urine, isn't it?"

Silver lining for FSU with this cancellation....

Duke will remain the only ACC team to have never beaten FSU in football.

all the recruits decommit - they are stuck with walk ons, 1,2, and maybe 3 star recruits for a while

they are gonna get slaughtered the next few years.

Not necessarily, FSU's glass isn't half full, nor is it half empty, it's bone dry. A cotton ball would come out of the bottom of the FSU glass, drier than when it was dropped in the glass!!!!FSU really sucks!!!

Bret you are a good sport. Maybe I'm wrong but I hope the game gets played, mostly because I want to see TL get his snaps and hopefully pad his stats. While I think the ESPN crew has decided to give the Heisman to Trask or Jones, it Trevor balls out the last couple of games he might make a late push. We will see. But if FSU game dosnt happen it is very unlikely imo.

Today's Heisman is no more than a paper weight, and I'm more than OK if they don't insult Trevor by putting his name on that popularity award!!!

Bret, I agree with jarhead, you are a good sport

To come on here and have actual conversations and not be a typical opposing troll. I grew up with the 90s FSU and never would have imagined them being where they are now. Y’all were where we wanted to be for so long. Just goes to show that as fans we shouldnt take this success for granted bc it can turn around quickly. Hopefully y’all can get things straightened out down there bc, while some might want to admit it, we are better off with FSU being good.

I think the correct answer is, you need a new glass because the glass is broken.

Its like Star Trek, The Menagerie, the big brain aliens are creating the illusion that the glass is intact and holding water.

From a Clemson fan who hopes FSU fixes their issues.
The ACC needs FSU to be relevant again.
We also need for Miami to change it's culture ,for Georgia Tech to rebound from the disaster that was Paul Johnson and for a new Commissioner to tell Notre Dame to take it's show elsewhere ,or join as a full member.
As to the rest of the conference, they need to step up as well.

So would FSU come to Clemson? No way in hades would

Clemson travel back to FSU.

be exposed to any of their players this season. This is three weeks in a row. How long does it take for them to be safe? All Clemson needs is to be exposed just before the ACCCG and the playoffs.

I think we've learned who the real problem is here

Posted: Nov 30, 2020, 8:18 AM

After 2 coaches (3 if you count current) and numerous not only bad but embarrassing seasons, one constant remains - the administration. A coach can't change any culture without an administration being on board. After reading the ESPN article about the 6 year decline, I'm convinced that they are the primary culprit. Yes, Jimbo didn't help, but neither did the administration help Jimbo. Or Willie. Or Mike. And certainly none of the players and other coaches. It's shameful. Cleveland Browns shameful. New York Jets shameful. And now, Florida State shameful.

Bingo, back when I would have a conversation with a coot fan, I would tell them not to blame Clemson for the shape their program was in. They should put the blame on their administration, bc that is where their problems are, and it don't have a thing to do with Clemson or the Clemson fans!!!

Re: Update on FSU.

It was incredibly obvious from how chirpy he was with Dabo that Norvell is a graceless little weasel. Dude, Dabo's one of the greatest coaches of your generation, has two natties and arguably the most powerful program - that he largely built himself - in college football right now, show a little regret and respect when they spend $300K and waste their weekend coming down to play you...only to see you wimp out of the game three hours before kickoff and then lie about why you did it.

But no, instead, you chirp back when Dabo understandably is incensed by that.

There will be no mercy towards FSU from Clemson at any point in the future as long as Norvell is there, I can promise you that. Dabo doesn't make capital-S Statements very often. But he did down in Miami in 2015 - sorry, Al Golden, but you're sitting on prime recruiting territory and Dabo needed to make a point recruits wouldn't miss, sorry it got you fired, man - and he did it again this year against GT in Atlanta for exactly the same reason.

Dabo just ordinarily doesn't. But now you went and motivated him, Mike.

No, Mike Norvell and the FSU administration want no part of Clemson anytime soon. Especially in a couple weeks.

Yes, it can get worse. Which is just astounding to witness. I literally don't know if I've ever seen another program fall as far as fast as FSU has.

Re: Update on FSU.

Posted: Nov 30, 2020, 12:04 PM

I prefer to look at it half full. It'll just take a couple years. You just had more work than you thought. Dabo had to build a winning culture but you're having to remake a culture. I think you got the right man for the job. Not like you've bottomed out in recruiting. ACC is definitely on the rise.

Although, I tend to agree that the season should be scrapped. Maybe try and schedule Duke and wake to close out the season on a high note and get some more guys some reps.
