No problem at uscjr, they will dump the brother asap

May 6, 2011, 8:14 AM [ in reply to Re: Recruit Update: Stadnik brothers commit to the Gamecocks ]

Perhaps they will refuse to send him a LOI on national signing day, but they will tell him to pretend that he is signing anyway. It is the off shade of red way.

Brock Stadniks is one of the top lineman in the country

May 5, 2011, 10:01 PM

He already had 12 offers but would only consider the schools that would include his brother with an offer. \
Five did and they were Va. Tech, N.C.State and Wake Forest. I wish he had considered Clemson. He was a huge pickup for the #####.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah...If we were USC we could have cut his brother's...

May 5, 2011, 10:56 PM

Scholarship after a year.

Re: Yeah...If we were USC we could have cut his brother's...

May 6, 2011, 11:25 AM

Apparently you're unaware that even if an athlete is removed from a team they are able to finish their degrees on scholarship and with a meal stipend. I guess we totally screw them over. Poor kids.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Yeah...If we were USC we could have cut his brother's...

May 6, 2011, 11:33 AM

Then they are still on scholarship and count towards the 85

Re: Yeah...If we were USC we could have cut his brother's...

May 6, 2011, 1:36 PM

No. They don't.

http://www.postandcourier.com/blogs/gamecocks/?plckController=Blog&plckBlogPage=BlogViewPost&UID=6076b782-972c-43ee-b7e6-6c16fbce4f12&plckPostId=Blog%3a6076b782-972c-43ee-b7e6-6c16fbce4f12Post%3a8435ef86-29ce-48be-a3b3-98c174dcb25e&plckScript=blogScript&plckElementId=blogDest

It's near the bottom of the article. When a player loses their scholarship they have the option to give up their eligibility and take a scholarship and meal stipend. I think if they just really want to play football and have the money they can return as a walk-on and just lose out on the scholarship. If they aren't on the team, and don't have any eligibility, they don't count towards the 85.

Signing a kid for one year and then cutting him

May 6, 2011, 11:33 AM [ in reply to Re: Yeah...If we were USC we could have cut his brother's... ]

just to make sure his brother would come to your school is the definition of screwing someone over... scholarship honored or not.

Not saying that will happen, but it would be crappy if it did. That would be a very deceptive practice and it wouldn't be the first time USC did something like that under Spurrier.

Re: Signing a kid for one year and then cutting him

May 6, 2011, 1:31 PM

If the brothers are a package deal then they are a package deal and that's what you have to do. I don't really know anything about the other brothers play, so I'm not saying he will definitely get cut, but I don't see how it would be screwing him over if he did. He's being given the opportunity to compete at a D-1 program, receive excellent coaching, and work out in some of the best facilities in the country. Worst case scenario he's only able to enjoy that opportunity for a year. Best case scenario he's able to enjoy it his entire college career and make a contribution to the team.

If he doesn't make the cut he has the ability to stay at the school and finish his degree for free. If he wants playing time, and can't make the cut at USC, he has the option to transfer to another D-1 school that feels they could use him, or transfer down to a lower division if that's his best option. I don't see where he has been put into a bad scenario.

Also, unless you know what the coaching staff has told the recruits, don't say they're deceiving anyone.

Re: Recruit Update: Stadnik brothers commit to the Gamecocks

We're actually in position to sign more quality OLinemen than USuC in this class with Destefano, Jones and a few others. We will also recruit more size in this area.

Bottom line, we will out-recruit USuC in the overall class yet again as we do pretty much 3 out of every 4 years at least.

Nobody cares about this decent commit for the Thugs.

We are both after some big time players on the OL. Standik was the first that we got this class we still have players like Leamon, Harris, Humphries, and 1 or 2 more big time OL on our board.

An article out of Greensboro on a Clemson site about another school's verbal commitments? We know they are an also-ran, have only won 4 bowl games in over 100 years and havent won a conference championship since, shoot, who was the President in 1969?

Just wondering but if they committed to Auburn would it be on RollTide.com?

Have some pride moderators. Keep this non-Clemson news off the site!
