Geechee- I have not heard that in a long time. Is there any Geechee people left in chuck-town.

Basically it's chicken, sausage (Hillshire) and rice........

Nov 16, 2020, 7:33 PM [ in reply to Now, tell me what it is. ]

I've never made it so don't know the seasonings. But it's good.

It’s good stuff however you spell it.

When weather gets cold we make it with one hen and whatever else is available like rabbit, ducks, squirrel(good but too many bones). Start with pressure cooking the meat with onion, celery, maybe a bay leaf, pepper. Pick out bones add right amount of water to the stock and cook it all with the rice until done. Careful not to eat till you asplode! O,Yeah, sausage

Unofficial history of perlo...

Nov 16, 2020, 9:17 PM

Prossers in lake city in the peedee region did it right... rice, chicken, sausage

I saw something on here on browns bbq in kingstree the other day. Best pulled pork anywhere in my opinion, and they did a solid perlo as well

Can’t remember how either spelled it tho.

The guy that taught me how to make chicken bog was

named Prosser and his family was from down that way. Closer to Effingham than Lake City.

It was a staple of winter camping trips. We used a whole canned chicken, celery, onions, carrots and just salt & pepper.
