Tommy brainwashed him . . .

Terry Don Phillips: We're 5-3, Wake Forest is 6-2, and Georgia Tech is 7-1. If we beat either Maryland or Boston College, we're in the championship game.
Question: You're 4th in your division. Correct?
Terry Don Phillips: Now ya'll look at that a little differently than I do.

2 points away??? Then WHy do I feel so bad?
A moral Conference Championship is NOT what I pay my Dues for!
Hell, We had to score with Gaines Adams to beat Wake and NCST was an eyelash from getting a foot down int he endzone to win.
I certainly did not want to see my AD making excuses now!!!!
Go OP!! Gooooooooooooooo Tiger!!

You say close doesn't count for anything but then you say how close we were to losing to Wake and NC State. Oh, and by the way, it took a lot more than Adams play to beat Wake.

I think he's proving a point. While TB or TDP can say that

we're 1 or 2 points from a conference championship and BCS game, it can also be said that we're 1 or 2 points or 1 or 2 plays from being 6-6. Agree on the point made about Gaines. Several other players, especially CJ, had a lot to do with that comeback. Gaines should've won the Pontiac Game Changing Performance. I wonder who counted the votes. Ron Cherry perhaps.

the "2 points" a hollow argument....

Sure we were close to winning at BC and at home against MD, but we were equally close to losing at WF and at home against NCSU. We soundly beat UNC asnd GT, but we soundly defeated against VPI. the Florida St. win, in retrospect, is not really a big deal since everyone in the league except Virginia beat them.
We had a mediocre season in conference play, and the league was down as a whole this. Trying to paint this season as some kind of success is ridiculous.

Is TDP good for Clemson?

We Baseball Program is number 2 or 3 in the country. Our basketball Program is number 14 this week. Our football program is #25 from 2000-2005 per College Football Data Warehouse, after being #31 through the 90s. Yes, TDP is good for Clemson. As I've said before, when you replace a coach, it can go either way, up or down. I remember when people were frustrated with Ford after back to back 7-4, and 6-6 seasons. He went on to Go 8-2-2 and then won 10-2 three in a row. Look over our history. Frank Howard would have been fired many times by now, with his many losing seasons. Again Frank Beamer was 41-47 his first 8 seasons. His records were inconsistent. In his ninth year he broke out and won 10 and followed that with 10. Let's face it,Tommy has one or two more years to get it done. If he doesn't, he'll be gone. Until then, support the team, not for Tommy, but for CU.
