I still can't believe Dylan Thompson beat us last year. All

Nov 20, 2013, 2:51 PM

of my chicken "friends" were sending me texts saying, "well it was fun while it lasted."

Unbelievable. There's no way we should lose this game once again this year. We were the better team last year, and we're the better team this year. Gotta get it done somehow.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We were not the better team last year.

Nov 20, 2013, 2:57 PM

We were decimated by injuries in the secondary and their defensive line and linebackers were much better than this year's front 7. We had no pass rush. Dylan Thompson playing was a predictable response to our weakness in the secondary and our lack of a pass rush.

Nov 20, 2013, 3:10 PM

Why are people so stupid they can't see this? It was the perfect play for Spurdick to play Thompson considering his quarterbacks strengths, and our weaknesses.

The only thing I fear is stepping into a pile of poop, sorry little EL Cid boy

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

that was specifically for tiger8693

Nov 20, 2013, 3:39 PM

known him since 1972. Was by no means serious

Are you going to come to the game? Unfortunately will be down in Chucktown this week-end.

No, I am not keen on the whole Roman Coliseum thing

Nov 20, 2013, 4:35 PM

like Christians to the Lions. We don't get down to the old stomping grounds much since the parents moved to Williamston and the youngest son finished ElCid in May. We will be in G Vegas for T-giving. Our oldest son bought a house in Simpsonville. Near you?

3/4ths of our secondary was out with injuries and Thompson's the better passer

Nov 20, 2013, 3:17 PM

What's not to believe?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Thompson is not a better passer than Shaw

Nov 20, 2013, 3:27 PM

We just choked and dropped 3 easy interceptions otherwise we win.

Uhh... Thompson is a much better passer than Shaw.***

Nov 20, 2013, 4:25 PM

pretty sure we were the better TEAM. You were at home, we started our backup qb and still won, we also started our 3rd string RB. We did not win because of our offense we won because of our defense last year.

im talking about against mizz.read my post***

Barney Fife could have run thru our defense and secondary last year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It boggles my mind that people

Nov 20, 2013, 4:19 PM

Honestly believe Spurrier intentionally played Thompson.

The only reason he played was because Shaw was hurt.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: It boggles my mind that people

Nov 20, 2013, 4:30 PM

He's played through every injury imaginable this year. He didn't sit because he was hurt. His injury was minor and his ### would've been shoved out on the field whether he liked it or not, had Thompson became rattled at any point. Unfortunately for us, and what Spurrier knew going in, was that with our D fielding half of it's week 1 starters.... our getting him rattled was unlikely at best.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have to ask-

Nov 21, 2013, 7:01 AM

do you actually believe what you typed?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

nc state had riddled our defense for 2,000 yards and 500 pts

Nov 21, 2013, 5:14 AM [ in reply to It boggles my mind that people ]

the week before we played y'all. we were the walking dead in the defensive backfield. sos made the correct call in starting dylan. y'all are the one's that talk about how tuff shaw is, and you think he would have sat out the game on his own ? moran.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Holy crap, it was THAT bad against NC State?

i may be off a few points and a couple yards, but not too much. the 'ol memory isn't quite as sharp as it used to be, i don't think.

What really irks me about last year is we won on first and

Nov 20, 2013, 4:47 PM

second down almost the entire game. We had them in third and LONG all game long. they just kept converting and converting. On 3rd and 19, freaking thompson runs for 20 (down to inside the 5). 3rd and 16 and they throw a 30-something yard TD. TERRIBLE!!!

Also, Chad's playcalling got freaking terrible too. We were executing our gameplan flawlessly in the first quarter. Running at doo-doo, optioning off doo-doo, rolling Tajh out. We marched right down the field. In the second half we left Tajh back there as a stationary sitting duck down after down.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: What really irks me about last year is we won on first and

Nov 20, 2013, 5:25 PM

thompson didnt beat us. our inability to give tahj time to do his magic is what beat us.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They were 11/21 on third down.***

Nov 21, 2013, 7:04 AM [ in reply to What really irks me about last year is we won on first and ]

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're right. They killed us in T.O.P. after converting

Nov 20, 2013, 6:02 PM

3rd and longs all night and Tajh didn't have nearly enough time to feel his way through the game. That's what an injury riddled defense will you with I guess, though. Glad to at least be healthy on that side of the ball going into this one. RBs and WRs you can just kind of plug in the next in line when one goes down. DBs and LBs, and the practice it takes to play as a unit, and be comfortable within the scheme, is a bit of a different story wheb you're talking about plugging the next guy in.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Oh, and Helmet... You're 3rd string RB? You mean the SEC's leading rusher this year?

Nov 21, 2013, 6:38 AM

Who, btw is now hobbled... and probably will be even moreso going into ATL. Championship problems. I remember in 09 when we lost bc we had to limit an 85% spillers touches to try and conserve his health going into the Ga Tech game. Didn't work but he still had a great championship game. Probably wouldn't be able to say that if he played the workhorse for us against a team, at the time, we had in our back pocket, and absolutely no respect for.

Nov 21, 2013, 7:02 AM

Shaw hasn't played poorly enough to justify yanking him like last year (although he really tested the waters in the UF) game, and he's a senior, and hasn't lost at home yet...... well I guess he'd have one loss if he played last year against clemson ;)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

shaw averaged 17 pass attempts/game last year. Thompson threw 41 that night

Nov 21, 2013, 7:24 AM

T.O.P.? Coots: 40 min Tigers: 20 min

Give our offense 6 or 7 more minutes and put 14 more points on the board minimum.

Look for that to be the difference this year. Our D gives our O more opportunities to score and we end up taking the crowd out of it by running away with the game...
