Why do dogs always race to the door when the doorbell rings? It's almost never for them.

They had to do away with the old system of sending their LOI by telegraph. If Clemson was expecting a LOI by telegram from a recruit in Alabama, Georgia Tech or Georgia coaches and fans would hire someone to cut the telegraph lines. The NCAA was very lax and did not monitor those cases. In recent years they have become very adept at ferreting out even the least bit of wrongdoing and by doing so, gaining the respect of fans of all schools under their jurisdiction.
