Apparently some of these kids are walk-ons. I’d 100% do that as a walk-on. According to some places online the shoes were going for as much as $2000. I’d trade a 4 digit payday for 4 games I wasn’t going to play in anyway every time.

Few remember how loudly unc fans howled when several members of Valvano's NCSt basketball team were found to have sold some used pairs of university issued basketball shoes to a sporting goods store (owned by a former Duke & Olympic trackster)in Mission Valley Shopping Ctr in Raleigh. The light blue contingency from chapelhole clamored for Valvano's firing and the incident was, indeed, one of the "scandals" which sealed Jimmy V's fate. The store owner had no idea his purchasing used sneakers would violate NCAA rules and the delicate sensibilities of tarhole fans----and this was also about the time the phrase "The Carolina Way" began to surface.
What goes around, comes around, I guess.

FWIW: Surratt was their leading passer last year, and Carney their leader in tackles for loss, 4th in overall tackles. I see those two guys as UNC's biggest exposure. Carney to play in their opener, but Surratt will not as it states above.
CAL is favored by 6 before this news I think.
