Is it because their players aren’t good enough to leave for the NFL after 3 years whereas ours get drafted in droves...?

It's a lot easier to focus on class when you have 3 less games to play, are completely checked out of football, and go to a mediocre university.

USC is a highly selective private school. Those numbers aren’t surprising.

Link please. Couldn’t find it for 2017. That wouldn’t surprise me if they were talking about all athletes avg over every program since they have so many more than us.
Doesn’t the pac 10 have like skateboarding and snow skiing etc. could be they have other minority’s players in fb too. Think you’d really have to break it down.
2016 we were only beat by Stanford... interesting.

If SC is graduating 93% of its players, that is a good thing.
As for our 85%, I feel darned confident that we can account for darned near every one of that 15% that didn’t graduate. Many went pro. A VERY few just don’t work out. But Dabo’s Reputation for taking academics seriously is well earned.

Bill you are missing one major point. Since 2013 out of all football players that did not graduate all left as juniors for NFL or transferred to another college except 2 people. Someone correct me if I’m wrong on this. I read an article a few months ago about this

Both of those numbers seem pretty good when compared to averages for all students.

One report showed that for all students starting at a 4 year college, only 62.4% graduated. The average graduation rate for football players attending all NCAA schools was 76%. Both Universities are well above average. I would think that a big portion of the difference between Clemson and South Carolina could be explained by the fact that more Clemson underclassmen have left to pursue NFL careers over the past couple years. Either way, both schools’ football programs should be proud of their emphasis on athletes completing their education.

Congratulations to South Carolina for being above average in graduating football players.
Here is the Wall Street Journal's GRID of SHAME for 2017 showing how the major Div 1 programs in America stack up in academics and success on the football field. I like where Clemson is positioned:

Not sure where you got these stats but here’s one for you. Dabo has only had 4 players that have finished their college career at Clemson that haven’t earned a degree before they left. 3 of those are currently in the nfl

Compared to Clemson, the admissions and academic standards at Chicken Central are an absolute joke.
The best thing about having a diploma from The University of Second Choice is that it doubles as a handicapped parking placard.
The old saying that if you can't go to college you can always go to the University of South Carolina is entirely accurate. They'll admit anyone under 80 that hasn't been dead more than four days.
