But the timing of this seems pretty awkward. I hope they already signed most of their recruiting class in the early window. Also, it's really late in the cycle to go hire a new coach, and they definitely don't need to promote from within. One of the major issues late in his tenure at MSU is that he refused to fire any coaches and bring in anyone with new ideas - something they were sorely lacking. They need to bring in some fresh blood.

Quitting on his team at an inopportune time.

Honestly, I always liked him. He seems like a good guy and I can't recall hearing anything bad about his program/players until this recent lawsuit. Wish him the best, but it just seems like a strange time to step down.

Had some good and some bad results. During his time there Mich St has done better than Michigan. I dont think M has ever been in the Big 10 Champ game

Saw this coming. He stayed at least a year too long.

Should have resigned right after the season. Waiting until now is really jerky. A very stubborn person.
