UNC pulled off (at the time) one of the largest scams known to college athletics. If the NCAA/ACC does not hand them one of the worst penalties ever given (SMU comes to mind). Then it's time to find a group who will care more about the kids than they do padding their wallets.
However, what is more scary is the silence from other schools as well as the NCAA. Do these things happen at other schools and if they open this Pandora's box many other giants will fall? Maybe the silence speaks a lot louder than we thought and this a common occurrence.

this was largely an unfounded media conspiracy initiated by NC State alums that ultimately boiled down to being much ado about nothing which is why UNC will not have to forfeit any championships or vacate any wins.

has a family member that has retired from the UNC system in an athletic capacity recently.
In summary-
"Everyone does it, it might have happened 18 years ago, it doesnt happen now, it will pass and we have already been penalized 3 years ago"
One of them even went as far as to mention a couple weeks ago that they feel their punishment was way too harsh considering how easy Todd Gurley got off- " He got 4 games, we got 2 years"
The school has money, the school has lawyers. Short of Butch Davis going on 60 minutes, this will probably go silently into the night.
And that could very well be the final nail in the NCAA coffin. If you can not police academic fraud over TWO DECADES, why are you in existence?

The NCAA will maintain it's position....

that this is an internal affairs issue for UNC and does not fall within the jurisdiction of the NCAA.
Universities are responsible for controlling their own curriculum and in the best position to judge whether a course is appropriate. The NCAA is not in the business of regulating the internal affairs of a university which is a total copout.
The NCAA has absolutely NO authority over high schools yet the NCAA has absolutely no qualms about telling a high school kid that his high school transcript would not qualify for admission to a Division 1 college or university.

This was a criminal matter in which the NCAA had no jusisdiction yet still stepped in and imposed sanctions outside of their normal investigative and enforcement process.

Beyond course work towards a degree at a major University...

In my mind the NCAA SHOULD BE involved with "cheating in athletics to win". Remember, these are student athletes on scholarship with the premise that these kids are there to earn a degree with the university providing some sort of assistance (room/board, etc.). If you aren't providing the proper support to earn a degree but rather you take them in ONLY to win then it (should be) an NCAA issue. It is CHEATING; pure and simple.

Its coming , , the NCAA is in shock right now and congress is watching what they do ..
This will be Death Penalty type sanctions covering a lot of sports .
A school cannot give fake grades to keep a player eligible ,., that is a main purpose of the NCAA ..
3 basketball nattys ,. will come down , Roy will resign . this just got started .,
I am tired of people saying it goes on everywhere , . , well it don't , maybe easy classes ..
This was the worst case of cheating ever uncovered .

on the chick that took the exam for them? No wonder African American studies was so popular. I wonder who arranged those fine young women, or as UNCheat calls them "tutors."

when the team of cheaters (along with their/Swoffies cheating refs) robbed Clemson of an ACC title? Think of the Clemson fans that bought tickets to a game - unknowingly against a team full of cheaters representing a school that designed a system of cheating.
Eighteen years is a long time, but in reality it goes back further than that. This is a truly effed up situation and a lot of people were screwed over. People should take this personally. IF NOTHING ELSE SWOFFY NEEDS TO RESIGN!
