Mom of had a heat stroke today. She is 80. Someone found her in her car off the road, engine idling, up against a tree. She was sweating profusely, and incoherent.

She is feeling better today. But the doctor said what I didn't want to hear. She likely has dementia. Last night was the first episode so to speak. Life will be changing for my brother and I as we take turns staying with her and figure out the future.

Were there no prior warning signs? That incident seems like a really rapid and dramatic onset if she had nothing going on before. She start any new meds recently or possibly mixup some doses?

If your mom has a pill problem. I’ve just seen similar symptoms from mis-prescribed blood pressure medication doses, or new drugs prescribed that had contraindications against current meds.
