Summary report of Trump's great week
Jun 18, 2020, 3:38 PM
|
|
-Claimed he didn't know what Juneteenth was, and after conducting what was certain to be a scientific poll, said no one else did, and that people only know about it now because of him.
-Facebook removed Trump ads that used the upside down red triangle, which is what the Nazis used to identify political prisoners in camps. The ads railed against "far-left groups".
-Said in a Wall Street Journal interview that some people wore masks to spite him.
-Bolton's book reveals lots of goodies, such as claiming the president encouraged China to open concentration camps and that journalists should be executed.
-Tweeted that the Supreme Court rulings mean the SCOTUS doesn't like him.
Very, very stable genius.

First time I heard it was when Biden said it and I thought he was just falling over his words again.
Couple days later I start hearing the word on news reports.
Still not sure if they just started it to keep Biden from looking bad or it goes back a ways.

Started in Texas in 1865 supposedly.
June·teenth /?jo?on?t?nTH/ Learn to pronounce noun a holiday celebrated on 19 June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation.

I guess I forgot to put the smiley face after the Biden comment.
Yep, I also looked it up after I heard it on the news.

I to only know about Juneteeth because of Trump. If his rally hadn't been planned for the 19th, doubt I would know even now

I ahve gotten older, I've felt less excited about 4th of July. there was always a big BUT....you konw that whole 3/5th a person thing. but when I would say that to friends, they never seemed to get why the 4th wasn't as exciting for me.
Now, with all the recent discussions, who knows? Maybe we will start celebrating it
