Troy was very physical - Choice ?

Sep 12, 2016, 8:49 AM

I am certainly not making excuses because I don't think Troy should ever hang that close with us but... did you guys see Choice in pass protection? He was not just beat several times, he was literally knocked on his butt. That's an area that people forget about when it comes to a running back. Getting yards is great but if you don't protect in the passing game, you will not be very successful. I was just very surprised and disappointed. Those guys seemed to be much more physical in most areas of the game.
I just hope Troy was much better than everyone is giving them credit for. We certainly made it look that way.

Pass protection is so important for the RBs.

A friend who played CFB texted me during the Auburn game. Said he was watching the game and noticed Gallman was "a beast" in pass protection. That's coming from a former QB who looks for it more than the casual fan. I was at the game, and I wouldn't have noticed unless and until we took a sack.

Any way, that's a big reason we rely so much on Gallman in the big situations. Need to develop quality depth behind him.
