They may have been lucky to win a few of 'em, but that was one of the toughest schedules in the country.

but lots of teams had poopy seasons. They played Michigan St. when they were #10 n' I believe they finished with 6 losses. Other than Stanford n' Michigan, there weren't any teams I think Clemson struggles with. I think we beat Notre Dame going away by 13.

ND's schedule was ranked 27 according to Sagarin,

while Alabma's was ranked 35. ND was also 5-0 against the top-30.
With that said, ND was lucky in several games this season, and they don't have top-10 talent. They earned their shot at the title with their great and fortunate regular season, but they obviously never had much of a shot.
