Tony Sipp, former Clemson pitcher

On the mound for the Astros right now in the playoffs. Diehard Braves fan but with this poor season of ours, hoping to see the underdog Astros or Cubbies win it all!

he played mostly outfield at Clemson

it was always strange to me that he made the majors as a pitcher. I don't remember him being much of a pitcher at Clemson.

funny how that works

I think I remember him pitching a little bit at Clemson, but you're right, mostly OF. It seems like the pros have a totally different criteria for determining who to put through their system. They don't always take the most successful college pitcher...they look for more raw talent.

Sully had him for the pitching side

as he was aware of how good he could be if he worked on it. Very true that he was not billed that way but all along the plan was to bring him along knowing that it was pitching that was going to get him to the Show. I think it was one of his first times on the mound at a game I was at in maybe Wake-Forest and Sully just said: "Watch This".

Same. I'm a Bravos guy but I have a soft spot

For the Cubbies and love the Astro's defying expectations. Houston having a Tiger on the roster makes it that much better
