Need new tires for our MDX. We've been running Cooper Discovery HT for a while with good results. Pendleton Tire suggested Toyo Open Country QT, about $140 more (for 4).

What say ye, Lunge?

I think the Discovery is only rated 40-45K? I ran them on

my Colorado for 10 years. I assume the toyo is a higher mileage tire. Do the maths and see which one is cheaper per mile.

Nevermind, looks like 60K

I have the Toyo Open Country QT. I like them.

Very good rain performance.

My Michelins run about 100K miles.

But I do mainly highway driving.

OEM tires lasted 60K. Gotten 80K out of Goodyear tires.

Michelins

Everything is junk.

Way I see things...if I pay 1/3 more for tires that last

Feb 11, 2019, 5:37 PM

1/3 longer, all things being equal, that's 1/3 less time I have to deal with the time of getting tires changed. Same for oil changes. Pay twice as much for synthetic and it lasts twice as long. I'm sold because I then have to get oil changes half as often.

I've got Toyo Open Country AT2 tires on my Ram Rebel -

Feb 11, 2019, 5:20 PM

that's what the factory tires were, got 60,000 miles out of them, and replaced with the same. Not sure about the QTs, but I'm happy with Toyo.

Michelins. Tried Pirellis on two different vehicles

Feb 11, 2019, 6:40 PM

and both started to wear unevenly only after 10 to 12k miles.

Did alignment when we changed the tires and rotated on schedule. Found some reviews with similar experience so likely the tires.

Went back to Michelin and will not get anything else again.
