Devoe and Mitchell each made a ton of threes, lots of threes made all around. It was really hard to get a read on the team against lander though, I could we just outmatched them at every position and could score at will. The second half we had a plethora of bad turnovers from awful passes, trying to be too cute, but that's easy to do when you're up by 50!

Have really improved with the additions of Mitchell and Reed's strong play. This team will be exciting to watch. Now still think the inside defense and depth could be a problem against good inside teams. Georgia has two or three good bigs we will play next Friday.

Brownell needs to stop letting Grantham shoot the 3...

it's just not his shot, and apparently never will be.
Too many games lost last year when the Tigers made a bunch of 3's early,
and got infatuated with the shot,
only to go cold from the 3 late, and starve the offense enough to ultimately lose the game.
Grantham is the worst offender -
no pass, no look inside, just pull up and shoot.
Tigers can't give away possessions like that and win consistently in the ACC.
He needs to stop shooting the 3...

more than anyone else on the team. Exactly why would you have him stop shooting them?

you need to go back and look at when he made those 3's

it isn't just how many or even what percentage.
He was horrific down the stretch, and got to the point that it was almost the only shot he took.
His falling % was mirrored in the team's falling trajectory late in the year.
In particular, he was specifically responsible for ill-advised shots
late in the losses against Ga Tech.
When the team really needed baskets to offset Ga Tech's runs
on multiple occasions he hurled up a brick 3
without even a single pass or look inside.
Those lost possessions were why we lost huge leads to Tech.
Grantham should be a slasher and a mid-range shooter only.

Last season JB shot 44.6% from the 3pt line, but had 57 less attempts than Grantham. DG shot an excellent 84.6% from the FT line, but had fewer attempts, 52, than anyone playing more than 15 minutes per game except DeVoe. Also DG had fewer FT attempts than Djitte, who played less than half the minutes per game. This indicates DG's offense was too one dimensional. Looks like it was in the exhibition as well.

Yes, he needs to add more of a mid-range and inside feel to his game.
But when you shoot as well as he did from 3 last year, you don't just stop shooting them.

I don't know where his defenders are coming from on here. Grantham has been entirely too one-dimensional for a guy that's 6'9". Especially before Thomas is eligible we need him to have at least some sort of presence inside. It's not saying that he can't shoot, he is still one of the better shooters on the team, but he looks for his 3 so early instead of letting them come to him. Really needs to work on working the offense and take 3's when the flow of the offense dictates.

35% is not nearly high enough to warrant a lot of the early 3's he continued to throw up immediately on the offensive end. We can't continue to take those shots without first giving the offense a chance to work the ball for a higher percentage look. If we work the ball around and kick it out and he's wide open, by all means take the shot every time, he's a decent shooter, but with 25 seconds left on the shot clock he shouldn't be coming off screens and immediately looking to put up a shot from 20'.

put forth is he should stop shooting them. That's just dumb. When he's playing 3 as he is most of the time, that's a large part of his role in the offense. If he's playing 4 as he will often early without Thomas, not so much

He should definitely take the three when the flow of the offensive set dictates it, but not be the first thing he looks to do when he gets the ball. Would likely be a more effective player developing a mid range game 12-15 feet around the basket along with similar shot creation skills that JB has.
