I really like the idea of wearing certain uniform combinations at expected times. (yes its officially DT)
Orange Helmets all the time no question about it.
No purple pants ever unless its all purple.
Home
Conference and SCar - Orange on White (4 or 5 a year)
Non Conference - Purple on Orange =(2 or 3 a year)
Vs Top 10 All Orange
Vs Top 5 All Purple
Away
All White
Vs Top 10 - White on Orange

that we have no other color helmets to wear.
As for purple IMO - never under any circumstances.
Class teams have traditional classic uniforms they've worn for decades - they don't jump around or try to make new fashion statements, etc.
For us that means orange tops/white pants at home and all-white on the road - the only exception being all-orange for truly big "showdown" games.
Look at the real USC, Penn State, Alabama, Nebraska, and on and on - they don't change to suit some uniform fashion craze. Let Maryland and others wear ridiculous-looking uniforms if they want to.

referring to the purple helmet photo that goes around tigernet every so often and those who say they would be for it.
as for purple uniforms. the Clemson team has occasionally worn purple uniforms through out our history. so i don't mind continuing that occasional trend. I couldn't find the them but i've seen pics of purple uni's from the 40's or 50's.

I don't mind the purple but it should be used more sparingly than that. I think purple should only be used once per season and only home night games (if we ever get any more.) I think all purple would look great under the lights but we don't need any white on purple or orange on purple, or whatever other colors you have. I like orange on white and white on white and sometimes orange on orange for bigger games.
That's it, I like alternate uniforms but they're alternates for a reason... They're used once or twice per year. But I will support Clemson no matter what they wear.
