in order to try to diminish the Gamecocks' basketball success are LOSERS.
This is basketball season, and the Coots are having a great one. Rather than reverting back to old, pathetic habits like changing the conversation to football, how about we focus on doing all we can to make our basketball program a success?

We play poor defense because we lack length and athleticism on the perimeter and size and strength and numbers on the interior. We will be worse defensively next year.

You keep bringing up that we beat them in basketball. Does Pitt keep bringing up that they beat us in football? We won the national title. That was huge. Making the final four is huge. The fact that we beat them months ago does not diminish their final
Four appearance.

-deny the pass (ball-u-man)
-help side defense
-communication
-block out
-rebound
2. Heart. The pure determination that the man across from me will not out hustle me. He will not out work me.
I would think that CBB has probably done part 1...maybe not with the amount of urgency that was needed. However, this team this season repeatedly showed a lack of heart when it came to playing D. It has nothing to do with their physical abilities. Every team at this level has the physical abilities to play great defense. Look at USuC. They are not loaded with talent outside of Dozier and Thornwell. But they are playing with so much heart on defense right now that it is driving their offensive performance. I can never pull for the chickens, but I do have a lot of respect for how they are playing relentless defense right now. And in doing so, beating some teams that are much more talented.

At some point, as a fan, you move from supporter to apologist/enabler of the status quo.
I think we passed that point two years ago, but definitely last year and most certainly this year. We've been too passive a fanbase in the face of obvious future mediocrity.
But, I'll try to keep it down until next weekend.  Not promising anything though. I've been a Clemson basketball fan since the 60s and this is a bad patch even by Clemson standards.

Yep this is pathetic. We need to be loud and clear until the new hire is made around this time next year. Our awful program situation is partially due to fans who don't care.

Brownell brought in more offensive-minded players, and now fans want more defense?

We haven't been a good defensive team but two years under Brownell and that was his first year and KJ's final year - another coach's players and an unbelievable shot blocker.
Clemson07 had some good info on Brownell's defenses. Not good. Bottom fell out after the shot clock was shortened.

Its is hard to win if you just can't stop the other team from scoring. It would be nice to have basketball players that can play offense AND defense. Other teams have that. We don't.

Well considering we have never excelled at basketball why focus on excelling at basketball? Sounds like you are be the loser, because are rival made it to the final 4. Our soccer team made it to the elite 8 this year. Our football team won a national championship. Our baseball team is working its way in the top 5. Our golf team has won 4 straight tournaments. And you are complaining about basketball.

We are also near last in the ACC . Yes we have been good in basketball but Brownell has seen fit to make it mediocre with Drads help.

What's wrong with you fans? Did you ever go to Littlejohn and watch Bill Fosters teams? I sat behind the bench and watched us upset no 1 Duke. Rick Barnes had us in the top 5 of the country. Remember when a Purnell team embarrassed Duke 70-55? Game day in basketball was at Clemson. Littlejohn was rated the 4th toughest arena in the nation. Brownell took a program that was going to the NCAAs and made it very mediocre. Drad saw fit to keep him. Why?

Since basketball is so unimportant at Clemson, maybe we should just quit buying tickets to the game and spend more on football. If you don't put a quality product or team on the court, why should Drad expect people to buy tickets to watch it? Only 2000 people showed up for the NIT game . Were they sending a message to Drad? We love football no doubt. Why can't we have a great basketball team?

Clemson fans and admin should not be comfortable with us being a bottom feeder just because football is good. We should strive to be a 2 sport powerhouse like Florida.

Agreed! There are a few schools who have done both well. You mentioned Florida. They are strong in football,basketball, and baseball. It just takes a commitment from the administration and the fans to demand excellence in all sports.

It's actually baseball season in Clemson right now and we are really good... #6 in the country and won a record 15 straight away games. Go Tiger Baseball!

Before people go king fu on me this post has nothing to do with CBB. It seems to me that their were a lot of anti Martin fans last year who were ready for a change.
It's funny what can happen in a years time. Not sure what he did to turn it around but by beating them 2 years in a row in basketball it shows we can be a good team and compete.
Congrats to South Carolina Gamecocks men's and women's basketball teams this year. I hope they win it all. It will give our state more exposure and Pride. The Football NC, the men's NC in basketball and maybe even baseball too!
