This may start a fight, but an observation on DW4 and I'd

like to see others' opinions. First of all, tremendous athlete, great for this university. Has only lost one game where he started and completed (NC vs. Ala)? Two if you count GT in 2014 where he was injured? So, those idiots who talk about him being sat are well just that idiots. I do feel like he has missed the long ball a little this year. But, and here is my real question:
Watching the game vs. FSU, it seemed like DW4 was forced to throw a lot of balls into very tight windows, especially in the short to midrange. Some of these were double teamed, well defended. And you know what, for the most part, he made them. So, my question is, for whatever reason, does it not seem like he is having to make tighter throws outside of the go routes?
And for the dummy that wanted to bench him Saturday night during the game. You know who you are. Tell me who you trust to go on a 4th quarter 2 minute drill to win the game more than DW4. There is absolutely no one in the nation I trust in that situation more than him.
Don't forget, he's 21 years old and again lost one game (if I'm right) that he's started and finished. Seriously?

Lots of pseudo coaches on tnet so don't pay a lot of attention to what you read in this gossip column. DW is ok with 98.6 per cent of us!

And don't forget that in that 1 game he lost, he put up mind-blowing numbers and was clearly the best player on the field .... against mighty Alabama.

Good observations, I believe.
A better quarterback? There's certainly not one on Clemson's roster. Nationally, I believe we've seen a pair of quarterbacks, namely Chad Kelly and Josh Dobbs (and probably others), exposed after the media types touted them as the best in the land. Both have major shortcomings.
I think these four quarterbacks are playing on another tier: Watson, Alabama's Hurts, Louisville's Jackson, and Ohio State's Barrett. Three of these have nearly an identical amount of total touchdowns; Jackson's numbers are gaudy because he also happens to be the best RB on his team, which is not the case with Bama, Clemson or OSU.
I wish DW4's INT total was lower. I've seen almost every snap of Clemson football this year and realize that half of these are the fault of the receivers. The group is careless with the ball and likely with their routes (with the exception of Renfro and Scott).
I don't think there's any QB I'd rather have than Deshaun. We wanted him, and he wanted to be here. He's a good fit and a good ambassador for the Clemson brand. He's everything Tajh Boyd was AND he wins the big ones. I loved Boyd, but if he threw two picks against Florida State and was down eight at that point, I guarantee we'd have lost by 25.
If you're unhappy that we didn't destroy FSU the same way Louisville did, you've bought into the video game version of football. Win, don't get hurt, and don't show your future opponents too much. Next time out, do a better job of containing the outside run, which by the way is not something that Watson can control.

I think its obvious to anyone that's watched all of our games that he has been way off on the deep ball. I think it could have to do with the added bulk he put on during the offseason. Maybe it's the coaches telling him to put a little extra on his deep balls vs not putting enough on them. Who knows? Maybe a combo of both.
Having said that, outside of the deep ball, he has played exceptionally well. He's been put in much more difficult situations than he was last year, ie; Offensive line, dropped balls, teams preparing better for us, tougher road venues etc. With all the difficulties Watson has faced I think he may be a better leader in 2016 than he was in 2015. All of the close games and last minute drives he's led have been extraordinary.

Some of his INTs have been play calling IMO. Also the DBs have just made great plays. We should have went deep to the endzone or run with Wayne on his first INT IMO they were not biting on the PA.

There will always be unsuccessful plays that are second guessed after the fact, but I think it's important to consider the following: Many of the WR routes in our offense are options that are decided based on the type of coverage of the defense. For example, against FSU on a CB Blitz Mike Williams stayed in place instead of running a vertical route.
We have numerous hot routes and adjustments that are made to exploit weaknesses in coverage. There have been multiple INT's this year where the WR and the QB made different reads.

I have been watching Clemson play since about 1966, Fuller was a fraternity brother, and THIS DW #4 is by far the best player I have ever seen wear a Clemson uniform.
