CFP Doomsday Scenario

So after 3 weeks of football I think it is clear that the ACC, B1G, SECLeast, and Big 12 do not look great (Pac-12 worse than bad so no mention). Outside of the top teams there seems to be average play at best across the leagues. Add in Bama looking better than ever before and there is an above average change you have 4 undefeated teams and a 1 loss SEC runner up.

I know there are always losses to the schedule (Syracuse, Pitt for us and Iowa for OSU) but Oklahoma, Ohio St, Clemson, and Georgia/Bama all have pretty decent shots at undefeated type seasons. The CFP committee would explode having to leave out a 1 loss Bama or Georgia or the nation would be irate if an undefeated conference champion would be left out.

Thoughts that this may be the year to change it?

I don't think Georgia finishes undefeated...

I think they lose at least one regular season game to either LSU or Auburn before losing to Bama in the SECCG effectively eliminating them from the CFP.

And honestly, if Bama and UGA go undefeated in the regular season then the loser of the SECCG should not advance to the playoffs. Last year was a bit of an anomoly as Bama lost the iron bowl and didn't make the SECCG. But if Bama and UGA both make it to Atlanta, then that should serve as a quarterfinal playoff game, unless of course there is mass carnage among the other conferences between now and the end of the season.

This is the same as every year. Teams are working out the kinks

and nobody looks like a stand alone winner (cept Bama). No way you'll have 4 undefeated power 5 teams, but if you do, they are your CFP without question.
